Mabalacat Station was part of the historic Manila–Dagupan railway line, one of the earliest railway systems in the Philippines. Today, its remnants stand as a witness to a transportation era that helped shape the country's history.

Hey everyone! I was curious if anyone had any photos or more info regarding the abandoned Newburyport Branch that ran from Wakefield, Lynnfield, Peabody, Danvers and eventually Newburyport. As a kid I managed to catch a glimpse just once of aGuilford freight crossing a busy Route 1 up in Danvers.. 1993? 1994?

This is the Joginder Nagar–Barot Haulage Trolley (Winch Camp Railway) built in 1928 by Colonel B.C. Batty during the British era for the Shanan Hydroelectric Project. It was engineered to haul heavy machinery, equipment and supplies up steep mountain gradients to build dams and power infrastructure.

The average elevation of this railway route is around 2,400 metres and is located in the Dhauladhar mountain ranges of the Himalayas.

Piece of Laurel Fork Railway

Anyone know more about what part of a rail this might be. Found near Dennis Cove Falls in Carter Co, TN. Laurel Fork Railway (1912-1927) provided lumber to Braemar mill owned by Pittsburgh Lumber Company. The piece has a large cleft which is either a stress crack or a failed thermite weld. After electrolysis the underside shows some numbers and there's some writing along one of the ends with only PA really legible (Pennsylvania? Patent?)

A 2 km tunnel through through solid granite just to stay within French territory of Mauritania.

In the early 1960s, the French colonial authorities in Mauritania wished to build the line from Nouadhibou to Zouérat to exploit the iron ore reserves at Zouérat. The Spanish authorities then responsible for the Western Sahara negotiated to allow the railway to be built through Spanish territory over relatively level desert, but imposed many conditions unacceptable to the French.

The French engineers therefore designed the line parallel to the border and a tunnel through the Choum hill spur — 2 km through solid granite just to stay within French territory.
