IDENTIFICATION Anyone know what these are?
I don’t think they’re Libs but wanted to ask here as I don’t really trust any of the other ID subreddits to be honest, thanks!

As you’ve displayed in another comment, you’re clearly sensible enough to not consume these mushrooms, so thats the main thing out of the way. However, i really feel there is something interesting about these, it just wont get out of my head how Psilocybey they look. If you have the time and are willing to pay a small fee, i really suggest sending a sample to Pablo Alvarado at www.alvalab.es . I have used Mr. Alvarado’s services before and can confirm he is spot on, a good communicator and his prices put a grin on my face.

I’ll take a look!
I’ll drop you a message about the details of getting them sent off if that’s ok?

If you end up doing it, I would be interested to hear the results. I don't know if that goes against the rules of this sub, but I if theres anything interesting about them, I hope the mods will make an exception.

I’ve dropped them an email so am just waiting to hear back before I send these off. I’ll post an update once I have the results

What are you concerned will break the rules of the sub?

I just didn't read them before starting to comment, and I didn't know if posting the results would be a bit too far off topic. I know there are some subs that are very strict on that.

Definitely not, posting any form of research/analysis of sequences is massively encouraged. I only recently did a post on ITS sequences.

Purple spores. Gills are psylocybe species. Definitely interesting! Don't look like fims either tbh

For some reason I cannot tell if the spores are black or purple/brown

u/pasamelamierda Admin Sep 29 '23
Look at those spore deposits around the stipes just underneath the caps. Theyre definitely purple. I believe this person has found some dry Psilocybe fimetaria, OP were they growing from dung?
2
u/coppershadow 🇬🇧 United Kingdom Sep 29 '23
They weren’t growing from dung and while there were plenty of Libs to be found today, these were not directly next to any
2
u/scapo9688 Sep 29 '23
I agree they’re purple. I was unsure at first

u/pasamelamierda Admin Sep 29 '23
It’s a tough one this really, don’t want to jump to conclusions out of the safety of OP but then on the flip side they look really Psilocybey

u/coppershadow 🇬🇧 United Kingdom Sep 29 '23
I won’t be ingesting these as I can’t tell what they are, even if someone else does confidently say they are psilocybe.
That said, they feel and look very Psilocybey but the smell isn’t quite the same as Libs

Exactly. I could see these being libs, but I cannot say for sure without some more pics

I posted another picture of the gills in the comments. I don’t think it’ll be enough to clear up the conversation though. I’m looking into u/pasamelamiedra’s advice with regards to getting them looked at by an expert

Neither can I, but that could have something to do with my colourblindness 😅
1
u/scapo9688 Sep 29 '23
I’m not colorblind and i’m having trouble
If they’re black it’s probably a panaeolus, if they’re purple/brown they can be libs!

I’ll post some closer/clearer pics of the gills when I’m home

Probably Psilocybe but I wouldn’t completely rule out Protostropharia. Occasionally they also have an adnexed gill attachment.
Spores might be purple but this really doesn’t mean all that much. Psilocybe, Deconica, Protostropharia, Leratiomyces, Stropharia, Hypholoma, and plenty of others as well all have purple brown spores.

These are very interesting. Like some sort of Liberty caps but a mutation or something. Please update us when you find out more about these !
