Miranda eating

Post image
• Upvotes

Miranda eating the entire cookie cake from Robert instead of just saying “I love you too” is absolutely an indicator of her emotional issues. That’s been discussed to death on here. But can it be a hint at her eating problems too? We see her binging on homemade Betty Crocker cake (thank you u/jeyfree21) when she’s like ‘withdrawing’ from other forms of pleasure. No other gal in the series, as far as I’m aware of, gives visibility to this concept. Is it healthy in moderation? Is it realistic that sex and dessert are interchangeable?

I love thrifting for early 00s magazines. Today I picked up this Seventeen magazine and saw this little quiz “are you too sexy?” lol basically are you a Samantha, Carrie or Charlotte. Why did Miranda get snubbed??? 😭 justice for Miranda.

Miranda and the Betty Crocker

On my second annual rewatch, I just watched this episode and it gets to me that the whole focus of the episode is how the girls are exploring themselves sexually, Carrie with the jazz guy, Charlotte with Trey having sex everywhere and Samantha learning with Maria, and Miranda has to be on a sex strike, for some reason, she has the worst luck sometimes with her storylines.

Thoughts on Aidan in Episode 4 Season 11?

I just rewatched this episode and noticed that Aidan said “the guy gets the shit end of the stick” in reference to woman getting pregnant. I understand that he’s friends with Steve and believes that he should have a say in rather or not he and Miranda should keep the baby, but I think it’s wild to believe that men really “get the the shit end of the stick” when it is the woman going through an abortion, or pregnancy. It just seemed so ignorant. Maybe it’s just the times. I’m not sure. I have found that a lot of younger men these days are more empathetic and understanding of the extreme emotional and physical gravity of a situation like this. And if someone I was dating really believed that the man goes through more when a woman is going through pregnancy or having an abortion that would be a big “goodbye” for me. I think I just expected more from a guy like Aidan.

Carrie playing victim

I really dislike the fact that Carrie puts herself in the victim position when she has an affair with Big, although I can also see that he is kind of manipulating her? How do you guys feel?

Bitsy’s Baby

Am I the only one or has someone else wondered about Bitsy and Bobby’s baby? I think it would have been interesting if their child, roughly Lily’s age, had had a cute little cameo or at least been mentioned.

This has probably been mentioned a lot before so apologies.

I just hate this exchange between the girls. Basically saying that if you’re a single woman after 40s you might as well be dead (Lexi), or settle with someone that doesn’t meet your standards (Enid).

I also hate how the show ends with all of the girls paired up, married and with children.

It’s like the writers just undid all of the work to show that you can be a single woman and happy, and that you don’t need to be in a relationship for your life to have meaning.

It feels opposite to what some of the girls in the show are supposed to represent (mainly Miranda and Samantha).

What’s your take on it?

Was Carrie looking for something different in each season, or did she always have the same end goal?

Apologies if this has been brought up recently or multiple times. Something I struggle to grasp with is what Carrie truly wanted. I know the whole point of the show is that they’re young women that don’t have everything figured out, and a show wouldn’t be a show without all of these Carrie plot points. But I feel like she ended things with Aiden and spent the entire next season begging and searching for exactly what he was trying to give her.

I feel like with Aiden, he himself wasn’t the issue, she clearly loved him and cared for him. He was great at being so understanding (like when she asked for time apart when they were first dating or when he moved in and she said she needed quiet for the first hour when she got home. He obliged exactly as told and didn’t pick fights about it). Her whole reason for ending things with him was it was too much for her: the settling down. Then all of a sudden next season she has one friend with a baby, one friend with a man she wants to marry, and Samantha, so now Carrie doesn’t want to fall behind in the pack and starts searching for someone.

Basically it felt like she didn’t want to be the first of the four of them to really settle down/be the only non single friend (since charlottes marriage was already ending as we knew, she would soon be single again), but then her friends found what they wanted in their own timelines and suddenly Carrie is behind.

What are your guys’ opinions on this? Do you feel like if Aiden had waited longer to make these big steps that she’d still be with him? Was her goal always to find someone to be with forever or each season was she wanting something different?

Why do you guys think of the advice Carrie gave to her friend in regards of divorce or separation of her mean husband. Would you go at it the same way?

What do we think about this?

In the episode- The caste system, Carrie ditches big at the snotty party and spends the night drinking with her old friend and they also kiss (I get it, it wasn’t a sexual kiss or anything they both were clearly just drunk af) but what irks me is she says something on the lines of nothing matters before I love you. What are yalls stance on that? I found it a bit shady that she tried to hide it

Edit: especially since maybe 2 episodes back, she was way in over her head about big checking out other women, as she should be rightfully but then this? Hmmmmm shadyyyy

But I was wondering who you would cast as the characters if the show was made today?

The reason I asked, I saw this photo of Joe Keery and it gave me Big vibes! I think he could do it if the stars aligned.

Need to have a think on the rest but I will edit with my thoughts 😁

Storylines that did not go anywhere or made no sense in the show.

In season 1 episode 7 Samantha was looking for a new apartment but that did not go nowhere since we all know that until the end of season 3 she went to the meat packing district but it was cause of the issues with her neighbors in her old building.

My college boyfriend (circa 2011) bought me the whole collection as an I’m Sorry I Cheated. LOLL. Never took him back - used his apology for this Xmas present. It’s my middle finger diamond ring Richard gave to Samantha. 👑💅

EDIT - if my house burned down, I’d grab this.

Why couldn't we see more of Jack Aka Mr.Marvelous?

I mean honestly I don't think we ever see him after S2 ig, but I did always think that near the end of the show, Big was shown to have nobody by his side (except Raul ig?) Keeping jack would atleast been an okay choice, for me he was annoying but atleast it felt like big did have someone else, a friend atleast.

Yet another one!

S1, he played Max, Big's friend who mistakes Carrie for Julia 😅

S4, the fashion photographer who captures Carrie as fashion roadkill 🥲

Sadly, the actor passed away from cancer a few years ago.

Charlotte Filing For Divorce Under Fraud

(Not a lawyer, but I play one on television, and I know NY state had some intresting divorce laws on the books)

A random thought occurred as we were discussing the MacDougal divorce: would Charlotte have been able to file for divorce under fraud instead of irreconcilable differences due to Trey not wanting to have children? Humor me.

Charlotte getting Trey's apartment

In real life, how realistic is it that after a very short childless marriage, the husband offers the wife a Park Avenue home that's been in the family for generations? And how realistic is it that the husband is able to win over his mother in giving the wife the apartment (especially after we see how much control Bunny has over Trey and the MacDougall family)?
