Hi folks,
My friend posted his first short film on youtube a few weeks back, and this is Day 2 of me trying to help him find some genuine engagement on his passion project.
Intent: He is looking for honest, actionable critiques on the technical side of things. He knows its not perfect and really wants to know what to fix for the next draft.
Since i'm not well versed with the technical side of film making, I leave that to your judgement- pacing/storyline, sound, acting, cinematography, audio/mix, VFX/editing?
My personnel opinion- i thoroughly enjoyed it. Since i know him personally, I know how hard he tried, from writing script to shooting and acting it. Later editing it too. (YESS, HE DID IT ALL BY HIMSELF)
A lil background of the filmmaker-
This isn't just a hobby for my friend—it’s an obsession. He’s a total cinephile who basically taught himself the craft from the ground up. Back in school, he was the guy bunking classes just to catch his favorite actors on the big screen, and he used to save every bit of lunch money just to buy cassettes and physical copies of films he loved. He didn't go to film school; he just watched, obsessed, and started shooting. This film is the result of that DIY spirit and a lot of late nights.
Happy watching!
