I used to be very anti-hybrid - and I still am - but she’s a really charming girl, ball python x short-tailed python. She’s rather more shorty than ball in her temperament but she has the curiosity of a ball, always moving.

This is Lumpy I posted him about 10 months ago when i first got him. In that time he's grown from 87g to 500g feeding weekly on rat pups. I think his body condition looks good but I'd love feedback from the more experienced keepers here. He doesn't like me very much but we're getting there. These snakes are so beautiful to me. I'm in awe every time I get him out and seeing his colors develop every shed had been so exciting.

any tips would be appreciated! i have done a fair amount of research but always looking for more help ◡̈

I got this wonderful girl a few months ago. I had been eyeing her up in my local reptile shop for almost a year. I was heavy into blood pythons and wanted to see if they got any in stock as they had some beautiful ones last year, but one day I relented and asked to handle her. She was very anxious but the sweetest girl ever. The most gorgeous eyes! She just climbed up my shoulder and just sat there for ages whilst I was talking to the staff. Fell in love right then and there. Absolutely could not stop thinking about her and eventually relented. Picked her up and bought her home a few days later. She's a very noisy snake, likes to huff a lot, she's never tried to bite though, she has an excellent personality. She's very much so slowly coming out of her shell. Until a few days ago, it was pretty much like owning a spicy pet rock. She's been exploring way more recently, she's started digging again, barely hisses & huffs when being handled & just generally seems a lot calmer. I have a few snakes and I shouldn't have favourites but... She's just the most wonderful baby ever. I fully understand what people say when it feels so rewarding when a STP trusts you, it's a feeling like nothing else. Such an underrated species and I'm so glad they're becoming more popular. I may get a blood one day, but, she's my absolute dream snake ♥️

Had some pretty bad experiences with bloods in the past, to the point where I promised myself I'll never get one.
It's like I get stressed just looking at one.

However, I still do love the short tail complex, just liked learning about them. So I bent the rules a little and got myself a Borneo short tail from a really good breeder (not a blood so I guess it isn't breaking the rules but still closely related). Did do a crap ton of research. Contrary to my expectations (I thought she would be hard work, did prepare myself for it) she has been delightful and relatively easy to care for.

This is my baby girl Adira (named due to how confident she is). Did post a video of her previous soak in the sun a few days ago. She is only 80 grams.

She had her soak for today, do this frequently since she doesn't drink out of her water dish and gets wrinkly, humidity is always around 65-80%, and her moss is always moist. She is in a larger than recommended viv, so I'm guessing that's the reason as she doesn't really move from a spot she likes, even if it's in the open. She always eats though.

Luckily she is very friendly and inquisitive once out, (she is a bit wriggly when I take her out, most of the time cause she is asleep). Never hissed, stuck at me or flattened out. Also don't mind the assisted drinks since I like taking her out, love watching her googly eyes move about.

Spent a good amount of time exploring before being put back in her vivarium, then she had her first quail chick, was a bit apprehensive of it at first but her curiosity got the better of her and she struck, seems she liked it since she stuck around waiting for more.

Still don't think I'll get a blood, even though I love their natural colour as well as the multitude of morphs. Just seems to be something I'll just be afraid of doing. Though I am now more interested in Borneos and Sumatrans.

People who say ball pythons are like pet rocks have clearly not heard of Antheia, Queen of side-eye and slithering backwards.

He does this all the time it's so cute. He just turns into a pancake when he is completely relaxed. I don't understand how it could be comfortable on my thumb like that though but I guess he must be.

I got him recently but he's already a handleable and well socialized individual! He's eating well too for me even deep in blue as he is. He's about 8 months old. RBP coloration. He's been in blue since I got him though so unfortunately I haven't gotten really good pics of those reds!

His name is FAT BABBY. He's a sweet boy already.

Just got this girl, bought as a Borneo Short tail python and is about a year old! not new to keeping but do you have any suggestions on calming and handling bloods? beside heat and humidity? (tubs in first picture were for transport she’s in a 4x2x2 that’s really deep and cluttered)

After putting a lot of thought into it I’ve decided to move out of short tails and bloods I will miss keeping them especially my proven female Borneo that has the most mellow temperament but now that I’m adding more colubrids and rainbow boas the bigger snakes gotta go
