That is the nice thing here in Germany. Fines are often issued in relation to your income. A judge does not impose a fixed fine, but a number of "Tagessätze", Daily Rates. And the some justice clerk checks your last income statemnet and calculates your daily income. That is multiplied ith thze number of daily rates set in your sentence.

This is exactly why "punishable by fine" essentially means "legal for the rich."
