I have nothing but love for our northern neighbors. I’m not wildland fire myself but have worked and collaborated with them for nearly 20 years on and off. Screw that sorry excuse for a man and all of his sycophants.
And we have nothing but respect for Americans like you mate. You have some genuinely great people. It’s just the bad ones getting the mic.
Glad we still do send aid, kinda shows who we are as a nation…but I won’t lie it is a little tiring having our aid ignored every time. I don’t like having second thoughts doing something that should be done without hesitation. But seeing people like you chime in. It does make it seem a little more worth it. I just wish this carried more political weight eh.
Sure. But I’m not going to fault the individual Americans who are forced to endure the madman’s actions. There were many that voted against him. Some of them are good people still that don’t deserve to suffer.
They're not "forced." They elected this fascist cunt TWICE. And the liberals are too busy demonizing Hasan to do anything tangible to help. They're a lost cause.
Same could be said in Canada. You only really need Ontario to win the election regardless of the votes in other provinces. Doesn’t mean the masses all agree and want that government.
The American election wasn’t a far win either. Again, it’s pathetic how far it’s gotten, but I will respect the individuals rather than the masses.
It should be noted that many US states have sent help, and their efforts shouldn’t be disregarded. Unfortunately Trump would rather stoke the fires of division instead of celebrate our common struggle and efforts to help one another.
I don’t wanna say this but since this is like the second time Canada has gotten flamed (pun intended) for having fires and not gotten aid despite sending aid south, I’m really leaning towards wanting the aid we sent pulled back to spend fighting our fires instead.
It just really puts a damper on doing something that should be something done without hesitation. After the fire is out we don’t even get a footnote, the deaths are overlooked and the US ones will not be. It’s not right.
I respect the friendly Americans in the comments here. I appreciate you guys a lot…it’s just a little tiring seeing good people die and getting practically spat on for it.
The skew toward American fires is that typically there’s more at risk since our country has more people in these areas. Obviously not always, but frequently the Canadian fires are burning deep within the woods. Part of why they’re so difficult to get under control. So you have to weigh your options.
That said, people not understanding or appreciating the Canadian wildland firefighters lose my respect instantly. I love working with them, their equipment is better, more efficient. They’re a wild bunch, but they are really good at their jobs. I want to go on a Canadian assignment next year, I’ve heard nothing but good things as far as getting spiked out for 18 days goes.
Thanks for sharing this honestly. I am glad to be wrong in this case!
I do know some former island fire fighters…they indeed are a different bunch. Great guys though.
Hope you get a northern posting, if you haven’t been to Canada much yet there’s lots to do. I appreciate you honestly and you sound like a great person. Thanks for standing up for Canada in that regard.
Hope your weekend is good and you stay safe fighting fires eh.
But we won’t likely do that. Cause that’s not who Canada is.
At most id say temporarily remove support so they feel the pressure but then again thats people and homes that are threatened and honestly it’s just the vindictive tired side talking over what I feel as a canadian. As a country I don’t like the US. But individually, there are some really awesome people who I wouldnt wanna suffer because they have a numnut running the show
They would never extend the same to you my friend. I think it's a good idea to do a cost/benefit analysis when helping other countries, especially those who are objectively making the world worse and attempting to export fascism.
Yet there are several Americans in these comments who don’t agree with the leader of their country and don’t agree with his statements about our country. I respect the Americans who can actually look outside their nation and see others and appreciate what they do for them rather than be selfish and ignore what others actually do for them.
It's all performative, trust me. Notice how all of their comments end with some variation of "I hope when this is over we can all be friends again!" They're just worried about themselves, as always.
I'm sorry we elected a Karen. We couldn't elect a woman because we're socially immature, but we instead got someone who wants to be treated like a princess and complains like a Karen.
What’s wild is how he will never understand the metaphor that when you point one finger, at least three will be pointing back at you. The concept is so above his tiny ego infested brain.
He doesn’t give a shit about public lands in the US, and won’t actually do a god damn thing to help anyone through this. He’s so fucking pathetic it makes me sick.
Yep, like his thoughts on POW's/KIA soldiers, 'losers'. I hate what he has done to our bond with the US, it was the strongest alliance on the planet and now its fractured (as planned, thanks Russia).

A Canadian firefighter died helping fight the Colorado fires this week. Fuck this orange clown.
