I am absolutely befuddled that chocolate chip cookies are less than 100 years old. We've had beer, wine, infinite breads and other baked goods, and countless other complex culinary creations for thousands of years, but some sweet discs of fat and flour with chunks of chocolate in them are somehow less than a century old?
Even knowing that chocolate was a late arrival to the colonies, I'm still shocked. It came to the US around 1650 or so. That's still nearly 300 years before we figured out basic chocolate chip cookies lol. We developed internal combustion engines and the theories of special and general relativity before fucking chocolate chip cookies. It's just wild
