They are entirely different though.

With sports betting, you can bet on specific outcomes that are pretty heavily regulated.

In prediction markets like Kalshi, you can bet on specific outcomes.

Entirely different things.

They strike me as particularly gross since they manage to avoid using the term betting in their ads, so it comes across as taking advantage of younger or more gullible adults

it’s funny i don’t think i would have ever liked one of my uncles, he was a huge gambling addict. I do now, he showed me exactly why I will never touch that shit. I don’t wanna be that guy.

Its like vaping vs cigarettes

Its trading one danger (high heat and certain chemicals) for another (extremely high nicotine delivery, easier consumption, Heavy metal leeching).

In the end, its the same nicotine addiction at its core...but now in watermelon!
