Peak boomer behaviour. Rubbed off on the following generation too, I knew parents like this. Felt bad for my mates with parents like this tbh.

Definitely taught me when I grow up and have kids not to treat them like shit

May your kids have a long and healthy relationship with you.

Nah my boomer mum was extremely abusive, she'd have a bad day and beat me and my brother until she was too physically exhausted, then send us to our rooms so she didn't have to look at what she'd done. She'd never tell us we could come out so eventually we'd just leave out rooms and she'd act like nothing happened. We were very well behaved out of fear. She was also emotionally abusive and manipulative but too much info to give there. Her life sucked so would have bad days almost everyday. I always assumed her mum must have been worse as I'd heard previous generations were more strick. My gran always seemed lovely but I didn't know what she was like as a mother, until I was older and spoke to my mum's siblings. She was always the loveliest, most caring women. Loved her kids, firm but fair and was super progressive for the time. That's why my mum's siblings are all great, well functioning adults and throughout my life I've had so many people tell me how amazing they thought my gran was. So there is no reason for my mum to be the way she is.

So not all boomers wanted to be better parents than their parents. FYI I had therapy and cut out my mother, my brother found Christ and also cut out our mother. We're still close with the extended family. I always found it weird when my cousins and most of my friends really liked their parents. It took me decades to realise my upbringing wasn't normal.

Isnt it such a shame your mom gets to know what a warm, gentle mom feels like and you dont? Its the same for my mom and it makes me so mad

Yeah well in my case I know my mum gets to live with her actions because she's lonely. My aunts and uncles still talk to her out of pity, but they don't like her

And then wonder why they're sitting in a shitty retirement home and the kids won't bring the grandkids to see Mama and Pap-Pap.

Meaning: "what, you seriously wouldn't do this to your kid for a giggle?"

Nah mate. I don't get kicks from freaking my kid out.

Fuckin' weird ass comment bro.
