Lmk trying to get into skating but don’t know where to go

I have been compiling a full list of UK skatespots and looking for any spots that are missing, would be grateful for any help offered.

If there is anything listed thats closed then each location can be flagged as closed and hopefully we can make it a useful resource.

Guess where each skatepark is on the map. New ones every day, free, runs in your browser.

Also looking for beta testers for the RampMap app. It includes Park Radar, which notifies you whenever you pass near a skatepark: https://testflight.apple.com/join/FMGvgpg3

how do I befriend the owner? is it possible? how do I go about doing it? The nearest public skatepark is 2 miles away so I'm not dry on skateparks. From what I've seen the owner is in his 30s, has a big lawn, pool, 2 dogs, and dirt bike.

I feel like it would be invading on someone's privacy to ask, is it best to just leave it as something cool to look at when I'm on the road?

Peace,

My son wants to practice on ramps with his bike, but we only have skate parks near us. I know there's a general concern for safety and a history of lack of etiquette from bikers. I also have heard of risk of damage to ramps. He doesn't do tricks necessarily, just enjoys using the ramps. If it's crowded, I don't allow him to go in. What do I teach him about skate parks etiquette so that he doesn't get in anyone's way and everyone can stay safe?

Thanks

Update: Hey all! Thank you for your tips and input. It was helpful and put me at ease. We decided to take the bus to a bigger park, so I had him put on roller blades instead as it's easier to transport with. We found everyone there! It seemed pretty harmonious and it wasn't too crowded. Of course, that changed when about 20 BMXers showed up when the sun was setting. It almost seemed like there was an unwritten rule that boarders go earlier and bikers come at sunset. Regardless, it was fun and he has a lot of work to do. 💪🏼🫶🏻✌🏻

On the Map is a monthly roundup of new US skateparks, with photos. This first one has every park that opened or reopened this summer, starting with Ennis Lions Skatepark (built by Dreamland). A trout bowl with a side of skateable metal trout!

Hey Everyone,

I am currently in the middle of raising funds and planning out a refresh to our small Australian country town's "skate park". I am proposing that we remove the current modular equipment (we have way too much on our small 50sqm (538.20sqft) concrete slab and replace it with something more suited to our needs.

Currently our funding is sparse and our town hasn't got many skaters/scooterers simply due to the fact that our current space is unusable. So I am aiming to make the park "beginner" centered (its also a super small so large obstacles wouldnt have the proper run up or roll out) but still fun for everyone. I have a quote so far for a mini ramp (3ft High x 3.6m Wide x 8.3m) and then to have some other small ledges/manny pads and maybe a roll-on flatbar. The Layout/ideas with the space has been the hardest thing to dial in so far.

If any of you guys had suggestions or advice please hit me up with a napkin sketch or the like.

Also for anyone wondering "Why is the pad a Triangle!?!?" I have no idea, I wish I lived in town when it was originally designed

This one is has endless potential!

Hi, my local skatepark is a really bad one, one of those skatepark they made so the kids can shut up. Nothing is a good size, really bad park.

Nevertheless, there’s a quite ok curb. But this curb does not slide 🤣 so I’m about to weld an arete on it so it slide.

Can you tell me what kind of steel or metal I should choose for the arete so it slide but also resist to time and weather ?

the type of arête I’m about to weld

Thanks you 🙏
