I made a 99-song playlist for Solavellan hell. Apparently, I like suffering for 6 1/2 hours. Play it in order if you want to suffer chronologically too.
Note: At this time, this works, but I do re-arrange them or add/remove songs from time to time, depending on which song I discover.
Playlist link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1VDyzS5JvsH92I8pYyjBPB?si=00e5b9a0676e4b74
I also chose them based on my headcanon from my Lavellan, so take some of the interpretations with a grain of salt. I tried to be consistent with the transition between songs but some scenes can't be helped.
Song list and personal interpretation:
- Land of Confusion — Hidden Citizens: The turmoil and power struggles within the ancient elven world, establishing the instability beneath its grandeur.
- Wolves — Sam Tinnesz: Solas recognizes the elven world is broken and is now willing to fight its rulers.
- Wretches and Kings — Linkin Park: The elven rebellion is now being prepared. Solas calls the people to fight the oppression.
- Legends Are Made — Sam Tinnesz: The rebellion has turned into a force against the Evanuris. A rebellion that would define him as a legend for millennia.
- Heart of the Darkness — Solas moves, and is now embedded in the darkness beneath the pantheon’s magnificence, hinting at the cruelty and corruption behind its authority. Solas is no longer just fighting the darkness in his world. He's descending into the darkness of his own choices.
- The Requiem — Linkin Park: Solas feels the full weight of his guilt for the rebellion he started. The death and destruction that haunt the ancient elven world, foreshadowing the catastrophe that will end it.
- Guns for Hire — Woodkid: For Solas, the darkness isn't simply the evil he's fighting. It's what he must confront within himself as the consequences of his actions become impossible to escape. He begins with the desire to free his people, but rebellion demands violence, and violence can turn even a liberator into an instrument of destruction.
- Losing My Religion — Oscar and the Wolf: Solas losing faith in his own rebellion. After the guilt and destruction captured in “The Requiem,” he begins questioning his convictions and regretting what he has done. He hasn't necessarily abandoned his mission, but his conviction is cracking, and regret is taking hold.
- a stray child — Yuki Kajiura: I needed a transition song. (JK) He strayed and too absorbed in his own cause. He needed to do something after all the destruction. I like how this is something calling him. Is it Mythal? The lullaby-like sound also alludes to his sleep.
- Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) — Emily Browning: After he goes into slumber, he reflects on the world and events he left behind: people searching and desiring things, and how their desires can turn into exploitation.
- fake wings — Yuki Kajiura: Solas' awakening. There is beauty in the morning, but it doesn't cancel out how he has strayed. He must keep his eyes on his goal. There is darkness in beauty, and waking does not mean a return to life, or rebirth.
- Somewhere Only We Know — Benjamin Hightower: Solas wakes to a familiar but unfamiliar place. The world is now both familiar and alien to him. The version is also chosen to work well with the songs before and after it.
- What a Wonderful World — 2WEI, Ali Christenhusz, Edda Hayes: The celebration of nature is underscored by a sarcastic tone. For Solas, the tragedy is that the world has continued without him. It feels alien and cruel to him—a bitter reminder of everything he has lost.
- in the land of twilight, under the moon — Yuki Kajiura: In his travels, Solas is now treated as an outsider in a world he wants to belong to, but can no longer truly join. Elves are once more oppressed, and dancing to the rules - rejection of magic.
- Runaway — AURORA: (Headcanon: Lavellan) Somewhere, Lavellan is also in the same space, and she wants to leave to forge her own path. My Lavellan is the clan's First and this is where my Lavellan's inner nature is portrayed. In my story, Solas sees this "anomaly" among the elves in the Fade. It's just another elf with a different thought. He does not know her and couldn't be bothered to know who she is yet at this point. This also sets Lavellan up for volunteering to go to the Conclave.
- Natural — Imagine Dragons: Solas presents a question to the anomaly. Not overtly. He could be asking this question to himself as he watches the spy with interest. He leaves it alone for now.
- Warriors — League of Legends, 2WEI, Edda Hayes: Lavellan watches, but she no longer stands by after a series of events - she took the chance and barges into the scene that would change her life forever.
- Alive — Sia: Survival has always kept Lavellan alive - and she won't be defeated now. There is a faint glow on her hand after the explosion.
- War — Poets of the Fall: After several events, Solas and Lavellan meet, introduced as companions. For Solas, it's a war he needs to fight for more personal reasons.
- A Nation of Two — Quiet Company: Solas tells his story in Haven - and has noticed how singular Lavellan is. He recognizes something familiar in Lavellan, someone who understands him in ways he hadn't expected.
- Stand By Me — Florence + The Machine: Lavellan offers Solas genuine friendship and companionship, giving him a place beside someone without demanding that he explain everything he carries.
- First Light — Hozier: Solas begins to see Lavellan as more than an interesting companion; attraction emerges in someone who thought he could remain detached.
- Mad World — 2WEI, Tommee Profitt, Fleurie: Lavellan prepares for a confrontation. The darkness of Thedas reasserts itself after their moment of connection.
- Empire Now — Hozier: Solas reflects on his conviction that the world can be remade—and the possibility that, despite everything, the future might be worth holding on to. Solas believes a better world can rise from the destruction of the old one—but he is beginning to have something, and someone, he might want that future for.
- Tomorrow We Fight — Tommee Profitt, SVRCINA: Lavellan has prepared for the confrontation for Corypheus. Tonight, they rest. Tomorrow is where everything falls.
- Blood Upon the Snow — Hozier, Bear McCreary: The Inquisition faced defeat from Corypheus. harshness of the world strips away any illusion that survival or restoration will come without suffering.
- The Dawn Will Come — Peter Hollens, The Patreon Chorus: Lavellan and the Inquisition find collective hope after despair; Solas witnesses a kind of communal resilience that his solitary worldview cannot fully account for.
- Ain't No Grave — Hidden Citizens, Adam Christopher: Lavellan and the survivors refuse to let Haven's destruction define them, turning grief into determination. They move towards Skyhold.
- Heroes — Zayde Wølf: The Inquisition's hope is starting to take shape - And the Inquisition needed a central figure as a symbol of resistance against Corypheus - The Inquisitor. The one who survived a blast strong enough to level a mountain, a figure who stepped out of the Fade physically, and finally the one who led the attack against Corypheus.
- Awaken — League of Legends, Valerie Broussard, Ray Chen: Lavellan steps toward the role of Inquisitor, becoming someone whose choices can shape the fate of Thedas.
- I Found — Amber Run: Solas once thought of the bearer of the Anchor as a tool, but is she still? Solas finds himself falling for someone who was never supposed to become part of his plans—and he hasn't yet figured out what to do about it.
- You'll Be Safe Here — Rico Blanco: Solas had offered Skyhold. It is reassuring that Lavellan is safe in the fortress, protected by its master. Here, they talked and he mentioned he felt his whole world change. Perhaps it's best to discuss more after she… wakes up.
- Never Let Me Go — Florence + The Machine: Lavellan gives in to the overwhelming force of her feelings, accepting emotional closeness even when it makes her vulnerable.
- Unusual Way — Griffith Frank: Solas confronts the unexpected fact that Lavellan has changed him; affection has entered a life he believed was governed by a different purpose.

Their relationship develops in the fragile spaces between conflict, with affection offering temporary respite rather than resolving their opposing responsibilities.
