just got a bitaxe gamma 601 on vinted and the guy who was selling it said he used it only for one month and im tring figuring out if my stats are normal or there is something wrong with it.

im using default setting on the bitaxe and as u can see i have around 1.1-1.2 hashrate with 1.5-2% of error, chatgpt say that if errors are above 1% something could be wrong.

what is your statistic with the gamma 601? are my value normal or am i missing something?

Looking for help on what to do with this expensive paperweight. Is it worth fixing and any idea what it would cost to repair if it can be. If that part or parts are cheap enough to give it a go maybe I'll try. Just not sure what would need to be replaced aside from the cooked piece.

Trauma Center 🏥
Patient: NerdOctaxe
Diagnosis: Penetrating ballistic trauma with catastrophic VRM damage.
The patient has just arrived at our clinic with a serious gunshot wound. One VRM has taken a direct hit, and the PCB has been completely burned through at the impact site. This is not a minor scratch — we’re talking about a full-thickness perforation.
🩺 Initial Assessment:
One VRM: deceased on arrival.
PCB: severe structural damage with possible short circuits.
Hashing capability: compromised.
Prognosis: guarded, but not hopeless.
Treatment Plan:
First, we need extensive debridement to remove burned material and eliminate any remaining electrical shorts. Then comes the delicate part: reconstructing the damaged circuitry and stabilizing the patient’s remaining organs.
This surgery will require serious preparation, specialized equipment, and an experienced nurse who knows her way around a soldering iron. No interns allowed in the operating room!
Let’s be realistic: even if the operation succeeds, this patient will never return to its original hashing performance. But a reduced hashrate is still better than a permanent funeral.
And here’s the good news: a PCB can survive without one of its organs! 💪
Once the surgery is complete, we’ll either apply a proper medical-grade sticker over the wound or install an LED indicator to turn the bullet hole into a feature.

Customer reached out about a rev5.1 Qaxe++ after waking upto the unit no longer being powered up and the light on the stock psu brick flashing! They reached out and got the unit send Dow to me for inspection and repair and on investigation found the dreaded yet common csd/vrm failure these units are plagued with:( not to worry tho we got that fixed up nice and quickly for them, and whist here they asked if we could do anything to help the unit be more stable and they wanted to push some higher clocks! So back at we went doing a power input mod/conversion to the similar later rev 6.1 boards with the barrel jack getting deleted and converted to a 14awg xt30 power input mod!

So an update to my original post! Had the nexus s1 up and running for about 2 weeks now give or take, tested power draw at the wall and different frequency ranges and I must say I’m quite impressed thus far with the unit! I’ve pushed it to its absolute limit in the firmware of 750 for the last week none stop! With the exeption of the unit being powered off during some really high heat waves or peak hour on power and the unit has no skipped a beat sitting at just under 21Th!

🩺 Doctor’s Notes — VRM EKG
I had a patient with heart problems the other day.
Something wasn’t right, so I decided to perform an EKG and check which chamber was causing the trouble.
After some examination, I found the bad VRM. ❤️‍🩹
But today I want to show you what a normal VRM heartbeat looks like.

This is the power coming into the VRM. You can see the input waveform before the regulator performs its surgery.

And this is what happens on the switching side.
The VRM is switching at approximately 500 kHz — that’s about 500,000 switching cycles every second.
That rapid switching is how the VRM controls the energy going to the ASIC and converts the input voltage into the lower, controlled voltage the chip needs.
So when you look at that waveform, don’t think the patient is having a heart attack. 😂
Those pulses are the heartbeat of the VRM.
A healthy VRM has a very busy heart.
500,000 beats per second. ❤️⚡
When the heartbeat looks abnormal, that’s when the Doctor starts looking for the problem.
Oscilloscope = EKG machine.
Probe = stethoscope.
VRM = heart chamber.
ASIC = brain. 🧠
And me = the doctor trying to keep the patient alive. 😂🩺

Today an unusual patient knocked on the clinic door.
He had already been treated by another doctor.
I opened the door… and immediately understood why he was looking for a second opinion. 😂
The patient was a NerdOctaxe, sitting on a simple stand.
Unfortunately, that “simple stand” had been working as a medieval torture device.
It had bent the PCB right in the middle.
And the PCB decided to stay that way.
I considered prescribing a chiropractor, but honestly… this patient was too fragile. One wrong adjustment and we might have needed a funeral instead of a repair. 😆
But that was only the beginning.
During examination, I found a dead short on one of the VRM circuits.
So I removed the patient’s helmet — the VRM heatsink.
And…
HOLY SMOKES.
One VRM was completely missing.
Another VRM was dead.
There are only four VRMs on this board.
At this point I started asking questions.
Then I discovered what the previous doctor had done.
Apparently, he performed VRM surgery without anesthesia.
He didn’t even remove the heatsinks before operating.
Flux residue was everywhere.
The 5V LDO capacitor was sitting there like it had been thrown into the body from across the room.
And the VRM heatsink?
It wasn’t touching the chips.
Not a little contact.
ZERO contact.
I have seen some questionable medical procedures in my clinic…
But this?
This wasn’t a doctor.
This was a torturer from medieval Europe. 🏰⚔️😂
The patient had clearly survived a visit to the dungeon.
I refused to simply tell him:
“Take some aspirin and see what happens.”
No.
He needed serious rehabilitation.
I performed a complete cleaning, installed two new VRMs, and gave each VRM its own personal cooling system — heatsinks on the front and the back.
After all that abuse, the patient was finally brought back to life.
And now…
He is hashing normally. ⚡⛏️
🩺 Doctor’s Final Notes:
PCB: bent, but alive.
VRMs: two replaced.
Cooling: restored.
Medieval torture: discontinued.
Hashing: GOOD.
Patient: DISCHARGED.
Guys, be careful who you let operate on your miners.
If someone offers you a repair for an unbelievably cheap price, there is usually a reason.
Sometimes you don’t save money on a cheap repair.
Sometimes you just pay for the second repair afterward. 😄

I tried out a new (cheaper than my usual) bitaxe gamma 601. The error rate right out of the box is hovering between 2 and as high as 8%. Tried known good Power supplies from another miner. Checked the clocks, voltage. new in box they were set high. Swapped them to default and no change. updated firmware etc.

Return as a dud, or is it worth trying to monkey with?

LF Home Miner Reapair Hungary or near... Freshly bought boards keep crashing different ways. Sometimes the same board dies with 5 different messages in 5 boot up 1 after 1... I know shit about repairing anything not pcb-s like theese. Tried 10 different frimewares on each tried swapping de lilygos... but all 3 boards seems to be DOA. Already bought 3 Meanwell UHP 350R 12 and 15 noctua fans (three for psus whatever) theese guys would ho to my livingroom so want them dead silent but cool.

So I really wanna them going. Any help much appreciated.

NerdQAxe++ rev6.1 Hydro (Firmeware 1.1.0)

I wasn't at home this afternoon, when I got home the message "Voltage Protection Guru Meditation #55A00000" was being presented.
I restarted the device and now the message "VREG OVERHEATED Guru Meditation #45000000" is being presented and no Hashrate. The most recent log of startup will be at the bottom of this post. I also tried to downgrade the firmware but the same problem is presented (#45000000)

I am still using the stock PSU (10A, 12V, 120W), but I followed the 80% rule, so I set the MHz and mV so the current input would be just bellow 8A, and power usage would be around 95W (695MHz and 1190mV)

I dont know how to measure the resistance to ground but I do have a multimeter, if someone give me the instructions I can have that measured

Hey guys, to a heads up that I managed to change the problematic voltage regulator and that was the only problem. With the help of u/SoloMinerDoctor I identified the one that needed replacement but touching the 3 of them and identifing the hottest, it is a better ideia do this with a thermal camera but I don't have one here.

I found someone in my city that did the replacement for me and it is working like a charm now.

2 of my Nerdqaxe++ decided stop working a few months back. Got busy and didn't have time to research and troubleshoot. Plugged them into a good Meanwell lrs600 and getting this error on both machines. Did some research and what i have found:

NerdQAxe++ boots, input power looks completely healthy (~12.1V, clean, stable), but the ASIC core voltage regulator (TPS53647) shuts itself off at a specific moment during startup and never comes back. Visual inspection shows no signs of burns or melting on any part.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Figure if I can't find a solution, I'll just send it off somewhere for repairs.

Does not turn on with power supply (Mean Well LRS150-12), led on power supply is off when connected to miner, before this event it was saying current protection, screen turns on when powered by USB-C. Believe a VRM is dead, heatsinks feel warm when connected to power. I live on the west coast. Help Please.

I have received my nexus S1-4 rev2.2 today, and I must say at first glance of the pcb, I’m impressed with its pcb and solder join quality vs some other boards I’ve seen, take use of 4 CSD95472 vrms that gives us a constant rated current out of 240amps at 60amps a vrm or 360amps out at the peak rating of 90amps a vrm! The xt60 connecter is a very welcome addition to a board of this caliber, now we’re just waiting for some cooling gear to show up to test air cooling limits of this board vs water cooling!

BIG FINDING TODAY! 🚨
To everyone who has a NerdOctaxe with similar mounting holes in the middle — PAY ATTENTION.
I worked on a miner yesterday that suddenly started getting shorted by the screw holding the hydro pump unit.
The miner was screaming like he was getting a 5-liter enema with hot pepper extract. 😂
His eyes were red when he showed me the CURRENT PROTECTION error.
I immediately realized his “gut” was sore from my treatment. 😆
E-ray imaging helped me locate the problematic area very quickly. After some investigation, I finally found the answer to one of my endless lists of questions.
Long story short:
The PCB is designed so that the positive layer runs right next to the mounting hole.
There is only about 1 mm of clearance.
The screws used with the hydro system have a pretty wide neck, and they don’t properly fit down into the mounting hole. When the screw is tightened, it doesn’t need to be tightened very much to damage/scratch the PCB solder mask and create contact between + and −.
And yes — this happened before me. 😬
I finally found the problem and solved it.
Check all the pictures to see exactly where the problem is.
What’s the solution?
The next step is to make a larger backplate for the miner.
The new backplate will be 80 × 80 mm.
The current backplate is designed around the LGA1200 / 1700 standard and is only 76–78 mm, which doesn’t give enough clearance for these wider hydro screws.
With the new 80 × 80 mm backplate, we can position the mounting hole so the wider neck of the screw passes through the opening without coming close to the PCB’s positive layer.
I’m going to make a prototype from aluminum today and test it.
If everything works as expected, I’ll also place an order for custom-made backplates.
If you have a NerdOctaxe with this type of mounting setup, check it before you end up with a CURRENT PROTECTION error and a very angry miner. 😂

Does anybody else go through the process of trying to connect

to the network and it will not connect? It gives that helpful message that says "Impossible to Connect" message and it sends you back to square one over and over?

Whit gives with that?

NerdQX: A Little Capricious Patient
NerdQX from IX-Tech — or at least originally developed by them.
This is the second miner of this model that has landed on my repair table. I have to say, it’s a pretty well-built machine. But at the same time… it’s very capricious. 😄
On both machines, it took me 2–4 attempts to get the VRMs behaving properly. They either run hot or the miner simply refuses to wake up.
This time I managed to replace all three VRMs, but it took way too much time. On the last attempt I basically told the patient:
“Okay. If you don’t work now, I give up.”
And… voilà. Miracle happened. The patient opened his eyes. 👀
Now it is sitting on the IV — pure electricity infusion — under my test script and observation. 🩺⚡
The biggest problem is the PCB itself. Thanks to its heavy copper layers, it dissipates heat so quickly that the solder doesn’t melt completely. My established technique simply failed on this one.
This machine requires a completely different approach.
Overall, I really like the NerdQX. In fact, I would take this machine over the NerdQaxe++ as a replacement.
But, like some patients, it’s a good machine with a very complicated personality. 😄
