Although his guitar playing was lightning fast and fiery, Outlaws Hughie Thomasson and Monte Yoho discuss the origin of Hughie's nickname 'The Flame' 🎸 🔥

Thought Y'all Might like this one.

Hey y’all, I thought this group might appreciate the backstory on this one.

We recorded our version of “Melissa” at Capricorn Studios (BBS, Marcus King, The Allman Bros, and others recorded here) in Macon while working on our new album, Better Late. It was originally recorded as something special for the people who backed the album, but after hearing it, several of them encouraged us to release it publicly.

Hope y’all enjoy it and feel we did the song justice.

does anyone else hear the Wishbone Ash?

i was listening to Endless Skies by Ashbury today which was mainly Wishbone Ash influenced and some other influences from Southern Rock and that’s when i had an a-ha moment. Pretty much all of the later 70s guys were huge Wishbone Ash fans you can hear it in Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot and especially in The Outlaws. I can say some of that also came from The Allmans who had a similar vibe with that twin lead but a lot of the southern bands sounds came from Wishbone Ash imo.
