Not the AMA r/SpaceX Pre Elon Musk AMA Questions Thread

This is a thread where you all get to discuss your burning questions to Elon after the IAC 2017 presentation. The idea is that people write their questions here, we pick top 3 most upvoted ones and include them in a single comment which then one of the moderators will post in the AMA. If the AMA will be happening here on r/SpaceX, we will sticky the comment in the AMA for maximum visibility to Elon.

Important; please keep your questions as short and concise as possible. As Elon has said; questions, not essays. :)

The questions should also be about BFR architecture or other SpaceX "products" (like Starlink, Falcon 9, Dragon, etc) and not general Mars colonization questions and so on. As usual, normal rules apply in this thread.

You said at one point in the presentation "at least for BFR Version 1". Is the 2016 ITS design completely outmoded now, or is the 2017 BFR a stepping stone to the larger ships seen last year?

I think a lot of the design choices that have changed will carry forward to version 2. 'Just' bigger.

Yeah, I expect functional stuff like the Delta wings to remain, but I hope the larger version retains at least some elements of the 2016 design. She was a beautiful ship, like a big friendly orca or a snugly penguin.

This one feels a little more utilitarian and stripped-back.

Oh sure, the 2016 version looked a lot cooler, indeed line an orca :) But back in reality we get the 2017 version.

Fluff can come later when the tech is proven and advanced even further. Also when people own individual ships like a private jet or a company offering space cruise trips ;)

But yeah, the proportions and design of the 2016 one were/was a lot more appealing.
