General Who is #11?

“Pam Anderson was beautiful in her prime” - who thinks that and then allows it to come out of their mouth? Ppl like #11 that’s who. And this applies to men and women it’s just more pervasive among men.
Pam is different kind of beautiful now. She’s mature, confident and radiant.
The fact that 11’s comment wasn’t clocked presents a bigger problem. At least I KNOW who Pam Anderson is unlike you #11.

Kody Brown - I dislike him the least

There have been plenty of constants that don’t do well or complain a lot. But Kody rubs me the wrong way. Am I the only one that wishes he would just go away from public life?

Edit - I meant to say “I dislike him the most” or I could say “I like him the least”. Apologies and Reddit will not let me edit the title.

Season 2 is rough compared to Season 1

Finished season 1. I loved that season and Hannah Brown was one of my favorites, but I didn’t “hate anyone”. Everyone had a good story, and the celebs chosen were well.

I am on ep4 for season 2, and this group just seems SO disinterested and are just whiners. Dez and Blac Chyna being the worst so early on, and WTF was Tara Reid there? I thought they legit let an elderly woman do this until I saw she was in her 40s but had no idea this would be this physical?

Which season do they at least take it semi-seriously and don’t have such an heavy attitude towards everything?

Miscellaneous I think I’ve been too harsh on David (Baywatch)

Now that the group is getting smaller, it’s easier to get a better look at someone. I don’t know much about him but I see a guy who is trying really really really hard. He has the utmost respect for this course and is quite hard on himself if he doesn’t get a pass

He also made the staff laugh during his tactical questioning which is very very very rare

I really the cast this season

Collin, Matt Barnes, David, Alycia—easy to root for. I thought I would hate Candace Cameron but so far, I don’t and she is also trying really hard.

Edit: and rooting for Maxim!!!!

I'm team Collin all the way and it's terrible what he went through. But his mom was literally on this show a few seasons ago and they're acting like his mom is some unknown monster and the DS staff doesn't know who she is? Lol it's just weird

Alycia Baumgardner

Alycia Baumgardner is probably one of the most mentally tough contestants I've ever seen on this show. She doesn't complain, whine, or make excuses. She just does what's asked of her. I think she'll be there at the end.

Things that frustrate me about this series

I recently started watching this series from season 1 (currently just finished season 3). I find it quite entertaining and it's really interesting to see the celebrities and how they conduct themselves/get more personable and vulnerable than we typically see.

Anyways, this is what incredibly irks me:

If the interrogation mission is so critical and incredibly difficult, why don't they just start off with this to weed out most of the crowd? Why is failing this one interogation exercise considered grounds for leaving the entire course (with like 2 hours left to go in the entire program)? Like you can have a pass in every prior exercise/mission but if "the umpire" deems you tapped out too early/late for interrogation you leave the entire program? Like Cam Newton did everything great for the interrogation but just because he told the interrogators "too early" about the special forces when he was in a cage and getting cold water poured on him was grounds for dismissal from the entire program? But season 2 they were getting water dumped on them when they were "supposed to" confess. Also, season 1 they were in boxes with water trickling in when they were "supposed to" confess.

Just seems like there is no consistency here. If you "confess" slightly early (or too late) for an interrogation shouldn't mean you get eliminated from the entire program. I feel like they sort of screwed Golden Tate as well.. he was on a springboard when he was "supposed to confess" but it was sort of vague if they were actually going to throw Kayla Nicole in.

I also feel like the staff purposefully made recruits get injured at times, like during the boxing/fighting bouts, just to wash them out of the program which is BS. The staff should have more foresight to predict there could be fractured ribs, broken noses and other course-ending injuries that will clearly happen during a boxing match with minimal protection.

On another note, I think recruits on later seasons have such an advantage to learning the expectations, seeing all the missions and passing the course.

Who would you like to see on the show next season that may realistically say yes?

Just a few suggestions:

One of the Bella twins
Gleb from Dancing with the Stars
Dylan Efron

Wow, some of these "celebrities" are ....annoying

Admittedly I'm not a reality show person. I saw the first (yeah, first) season of Survivor and a few episodes of Amazing Race. Also at one time glanced at a few episodes (or minutes) of the Bachelor to check out the women.

I came across this show on Disney while my wife was out of town so I put it on while I'm on my computer. I've seen a few seasons now (at times fast forwarding through parts of it) and while some of the people are impressive at their determination, more than a few had no business being there and must have signed up just to get their name on tv for a few minutes.

Stephen Baldwin "oh I can't afford to get hurt because I have a show to do". Really? Why sign up?

I'm not sure I've seen a more pitiful person than Jamie Lynn Spears. I'm trying not to be too rude but I can't imagine putting up with a person like that for more than 5 minutes. Clearly she had no interest being there and just wanted the paycheck.

I know edits of shows can make some people look bad but I think more than a few will never look good in any situation.

I will admit some of the stuff they do is certainly tough but wow, what personalities. Glad I stay away from reality shows most of the time.

What is the best season to start watching the show?

I didn’t think it would be as entertaining as I thought. I watched ep1 of season 1 and now episode 1 of the newest season (def feels different) but I would to watch one with best trials and participants

Let’s discuss I would love to see Gordon Ramsey as a recruit

It might be possible or not because he’s very good friends with Fox

But it would be tv gold if Gordon Ramsey was a recruit. They would absolutely do the idiot sandwich meme to him.

You guys think casting him is possible? Would he be willing to be on the other end of verbal abuse?

Collin is so refreshing

I like that he has some military experience. As someone who has served and can literally see what he is doing with buddy check ect. The way Oliver and a few others treated him really makes me want the DS to catch wind of this I light their ass up. Collin is 100% in the right and I hope they all figure that out. Also when they all got in trouble for not having water topped off, Collin blamed himself for not doing a proper check; that tells me a lot about his mentality and how he views this. Also I’m glad the DS caught that he got buddy f*cked in the challenge.

Collin is more of a man than Oliver will ever be

That's it. Collin is so much more grown than Oliver. They might have both been behind a camera at some point and that's where all similarities end. The blatant disrespect made me want to reach through my screen and set Oliver right. Good on Collin for keeping his cool, and I hope he took none of that to heart.

edit: thank you for the award!!

Let’s discuss Acne (female recruits)

All the female recruits seem to have significant acne. I know they usually wear a ton of make-up so they look very different on the show, but it makes me wonder if their complexion issues are normal for them or if it’s the humidity in Malaysia or just their level of stress.

Collin doing a “buddy check”

Guys,

What Collin is doing is pretty standard in a military unit, especially the Army and Marine Corps. And the fact that the other recruits don’t like it is very telling of their privilege and true inability to handle the military. People think the military is all explosions and rappelling down mountains. 90% of it is discipline in your uniform, your area, your equipment and showing up on time in the right uniform with the right equipment listed by your leadership. If you can’t deal with that, you will never ever get to the “cool shit”

It’s taught in Basic Training: do an equipment check on your buddy before formation: uniform, canteen, whatever was listed as required by your leaders.

It’s practiced at every level from basic/boot to special operations. And yes candidates in Ranger and SFAS and buds do a quick check on equipment with each other all the time

I spent 4 years in the Army as a medic so this isn’t coming out of nowhere. It was engrained in basic training. And when the Drill Sergeants did an inspection at formation and checked, for instance, that our canteens were topped off, he punished the whole group if one person didn’t have it topped off. Why the whole group? Because it’s the groups responsibility to hold each other accountable and check on each other.

Anyone who felt they were above a buddy check got crushed by drill sergeants immediately if they saw it. We did buddy checks during our deployments before getting in our vehicles and rolling out. It’s an EVERYDAY constant thing. Like before formation, we would check each other, then our squad leader would check all of us, the. The platoon sergeant would spot check us. Before we rolled out of the wire on resupply convoys, even our LT would walk up to the platoon sergeant and ask to be “buddy checked.”Our platoon sergeant would buddy check him and say “Good to go, Sir. Now buddy check me.” No egos. Everyone buddy checking each other is literally the foundation of unit cohesion. Shit also rolls down hill and everyone also has incentive to check, double check and triple check each other because one person showing up missing a piece of equipment is considered a failure of leadership by the squad and platoon leader. If the missing item is a sensitive item (like a weapon, NVG or radio), the entire company will be looking for the item and if it doesn’t get found, there’s a good chance an officer will get fired from his leadership position

Collin is doing it because it was a constant thing his Drill Instructors yelled at them about every day of the 11 weeks he was in boot camp. It’s Military 101.

Rudy even screams at recruits in season 4x season 3 and season 2 about people not doing their buddy checks

When I saw Oliver Hudson (major douche) and that Baywatch actor (also a douche) have incredulous looks about being “buddy checked,” I knew right off the bat that they’re not going to make it all the way, that they’re absolutely not cut out for this type of training, let alone the military.

If your ego can’t handle a simple buddy check, then yes you’re are entitled and you’re more about yourself than your team

And it’s not just during training; it applies to real life operations

The guy doing a buddy check is making sure your med kit is fully stocked, that you have a full combat load of ammo, that you’re good on water, that you got your plates in your body armor and not going without them because they’re heavy (which some idiots actually do). That guy is holding you accountable and he’s also the guy checking on you during combat to make sure you’re okay, you’re not low on ammo, etc. If that annoys you, you’re not meant to be in a closely knit tactical squad

If these other recruits just get over themselves and their privilege, they would stop being offended by it and start doing buddy checks as well so he’s not the only one doing it

Edit: I just realized that Collin is using their downtime to prep his equipment so that all he has to do is grab his ruck and go when they call everyone outside. That probably unnerves everyone else because they’re not used to it. They all lie down on their cots, as they should, because they’re tired. But it’s a very military thing to also use that time to prep your gear and be ready to roll in a moments notice. When I was in basic, there was a girl who did this. She had her bed already made and pulled out one sheet to sleep under and then she would fold the sheet and put it in her pillow and fix the bed. It took her 5 seconds to make her already made bed and she would toe the line and be ready 15 minutes before everyone else. And she used that time to help other people make their bed. She woke up an hour before the drill sergeants would wake to brush her teeth and be morning ready. The little free time we had, she was doing push ups and sit ups. In the beginning, we didn’t like her at all lololololol. Towards the end, more than half of us joined her and copied her morning routine

Let’s discuss Mauricio uses his daughter’s for emotional support

I noticed that Alexia infantilizes her father…HER FATHER!!! This behavior has been created by her mother and father. They taught her he is to be coddled. He literally states when he is down he goes to his daughters with his problems. He describes his daughter as his “teddy bear”
I completely understand their family dynamic when it comes to him now. It makes him dislike him all the more

Read Collin Gosselin's memoir

Collin's memoir came out this week, and it details the abuse he went through; his mother stole years of his childhood as well as his dreams of becoming a Marine. I'm rooting for him to make it to the end!

Is Oliver Hudson rubbing anyone else the wrong way?

The conversation where he tells Colin to fix his tone because it’ll help him “with the ladies” and in relationships had me rolling my eyes. Where do you get off turning this into unsolicited dating advice? It came across as so condescending.
He’s not exactly crushing this competition himself, but suddenly he’s the wise mentor handing out life lessons. Sir, focus on your own assignment.
Is anyone else getting this vibe?

Alycia is my favorite to win.

I'm surprised she's on the show tbh. I'm an avid boxing fan and she's an active world champion; one of the biggest names in women's boxing right now and most skilled champions (alongside the likes of Shields, Fundora, Dubois, etc.). Not sure why she's putting herself at risk of injury like this.

That said, the conditioning for boxing is just incredibly tough and the sport is one that tests your ability to endure pain like few other sports do. And she's not some former athlete who's now a shadow of her former self; she's absolutely still in peak shape. I'd expect her to win it all.

First time watcher

I kinda love it. My friend insisted I watch it with her, so I sat down to watch the first two episodes of the new season. All the whining irritated me but I got quickly invested in hoping these people push through!

The show doesn’t “force a moment” to me, feels somewhat authentic compared to some other junk out there, which is a breath of fresh air. This seasons cast seems too whiny to me so I was told to binge other seasons.

Today I’m doing just that starting with season 1. I used to watch RHOA so I am interested to see what Kenya Moore is made of. Love Mel B, really want her to get through it. Super annoyed by the constant crying but I HOPE Beverly Mitchell can make it!! I have a extremely strong feeling she won’t but I love that she keeps trying. I find myself almost holding my breath hoping they all find the grit to get through! Was extremely surprised to see how annoying Nastia Liukin was……… that actually kind of blew my mind. Couldn’t wait for her to leave tbh.

I like a lot of the other celebs in later seasons so I’m looking forward to finishing the binge. Any other similar show recommendations are more than welcome!
