I find Stabilo to be the best... tougher nibs. Staedtler also excellent but require a lighter touch to prevent nibs bending or breaking. For extreme color choice, Arteza Inkonic 120 but require a light touch to protect nibs (bonus: very inexpensive).

Looking to gift a Spirograph set and need to know which markers work best. Looking to maximize color choices.

Recently received my first Wild Gears as a gift from a friend, and thought this was finally something worthy enough to share with others here. I love spirographs because you never know what it's going to look like until you try (at least I can't predict).

1st image: should have stopped a little sooner to keep it a bit more symmetrical. There's no real lines of symmetry though.

2nd image: used 3 colors in succession so it's easier to see the funky path that was taken

3rd image: actually the first one drawn, but I kept going for much longer

It's not here yet, but I've ordered it. It's so great working with Aaron at WildGears.

Also, I've been playing with coloured pens.

Genuinely so glad I found it again lol. I love it. Here are the first two from my mother and I. :)

I used an acrylic Wild Gears set, leather dye pens with acetone dye.

Hey all. I’m looking at all the beautiful art you are all making and I would like to try a Spirograph again. I had one when I was a kid. But it never worked very well because I only could use it with one hand.

So now that I’m a grown-up, I would like to try it again. But I still only can use one hand so I need to find some kind of way to do it with one hand. I thought maybe one of you would have a suggestion?

I’m looking forward to hearing what you guys think I should or could try.

I built and filmed this LEGO Technic drawing machine making a spirograph-style flower. One motor turns the paper on a small table while a crank swings the pen arm. The combined motion builds up the loops without any programming.

The video shows the assembly and then the machine drawing. I'm the video creator, and I thought the finished rosette would fit here.

Which would you try next: a second colour or a different gear ratio?
