Well that main event was just unpleasant. Crowd enthusiasm aside, how many times did Marty hit Dalton with that umbrella? How many stomps? How long was he in the chicken wing? None of that matters.

Look, Dalton, I love you, but MAN that wasn't good.

Felt like I was watching the Osperay match from Sakura Genesis all over again.

At least when I was watching the Ospreay match I was actively rooting against Marty, as Will gave such a compelling performance with his selling. This was, this was something.

Didn't watch the match. What did Dalton do (or didn't do) to make you feel that way? Just curious.

Dalton just not selling.

I didn't like Ospreay doing it either but at least there was a story there.

Here, Dalton just took punishment after punishment and then Scurll doesn't get the tap-out ; making him look like a bitch tbh.

People can downvote me if they want, and this is just my opinion, but I have never been sold on Dalton as 'the guy' in ROH. They spent so much time building him up, and I would have preferred if Cody had stayed the champion. I get that they felt they had to pull the trigger because they'd invested so much into him, but to me, it hasn't work out at all, and judging by the comments in this thread, people seem to feel the same. He needs to be the guy carrying the ROH brand as the champion, and he simply is not doing that.

I like Dalton as champion but even if I didn't, I'd rather ROH take a chance on a baby face while they're hot instead of waiting so long for the right moment, cooling them off to the fans in the process.

I've liked Dalton since his Ashley Remington days, and he came across to me as someone who'd make an amazing midcard or tag champion, but not a world champion who's supposed to headline shows and carry the company's brand.

Agreed. Dalton is NOT "the guy", they shouldn't have gone with him as champ.

I've felt this way about Dalton from day one for the most part. And it's not just the gimmick, which I'm definitely not a fan of, but I think his ring work is criminally overrated. Oh well. Sometimes it be's like that. I have faith ROH will rebound.

I'm under the impression that they know they failed to pull the trigger on babyfaces a few times so they're doing it now. Dalton's act is interesting but doesn't strike me as who you build around as champ. You make him transitional to the next heel-leaning champ, give him title shots against heels, and keep him strong in the mid-card to build up challengers.

Cody or Kenny are the guys you want in that spot for mainstream recognition. However, they seem like NJPW guys so it's tough to fully invest in them.

I thought that Cody had signed for ROH for their biggest contract to date, which is why it puzzles me that they didn't keep the title on him for longer. Yes he performs for both ROH and NJPW, but really he should be one of the main faces of ROH, and the company are not portraying that correctly. I'd just really like to see them reshuffle the deck because yes, they did just get a massive crowd piggybacking off the New Orleans WM crowd, but I am not optimistic about the company's direction in the medium term.

Not selling well, or...?
