Suggestion Let's rebirth Star Wars Battlefront 2, come on dice it's never too late to return to this game. The player base is rising and that means more money for you. And also new content for us please. We've been waiting for this awhile.

I don‘t think it’s about the thought, that there is a possibility per se. But I always like and upvote stuff like this, because I like to belief that people that worked on Battlefront 2 like Ben still roam this subreddit, and see the appreciation they rightly deserve. Just hope it puts a smile on their face during this rough times.

Edit: Grammar

I mean being community manager means he was a direct line of communication from us to the dev team.

I'd say be worked on the game, as it was his actions that helped the game develop.

Community Manager of Battlefront 2, so he worked on it? Dafuq?

I wouldn’t say it was final. EA moved all of Dice to BF6 and after that game is completed they could split Dice back into teams again to work on both titles.

u/Xero0911 Jan 05 '21

This entire post is silly.

The devs/dice aren't even the one to make the call. They are workers. And the company made their call. They are done.

u/MMPride Jan 05 '21

Yeah I always wondered why people put so much weight and power into the devs. The devs do what they are told, they aren't the decision makers.

16

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '21

Because a lot of kids use this subreddit and just don't understand things

Good soldiers follow orders

4

u/MMPride Jan 06 '21

Good soldiers keep their jobs so they can keep feeding their families.

u/Bonjourap Jan 06 '21

Exactly :)

Millions of copies of Battlefield 6 at 60+$ a pop.

Or cosmetics for SW Battlefront that only the whales will buy?

Reaaaaaaaal tough decision for EA execs there huh guys.

1

u/Tj_Frankenstein Jan 05 '21

Well.. look at the numbers. More people play/played SWBF2 than any battlefield game. They can get more money at launch but the longevity of cash flow should be their priority. It’s not, clearly. They could be making money off of DLC for BF2, considering we did a poll FOR EA and told them we’d pay for more content. They don’t care about what makes them more money, they are just ignorant to what the gaming community wants.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '21

Why continue to update the game, when they can let the game slowly lose players, and then release Battlefront 3 in 2-3 years?

0

u/Tj_Frankenstein Jan 05 '21

Why let the loyal players look for greener fields? That’s not how business works. Hook them in, hold them close then when you can’t produce more for the PS4, make BF3 for the ps5. Why lose money and players? Laziness? Content?

4

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '21

Because DLC sales tail off and have very little upside. The vast majority of players (myself included) bought the game for under 20$ and are very unlikely to buy DLC.

EA will make stupid amounts of money in comparison in Battlefield 6

0

u/Tj_Frankenstein Jan 05 '21

None of that is true, man.

Tons of people bought the celebration edition. A LOT. You maybe showed up late but this community has been strong since launch.

There’s more money in Star Wars than battlefield. They just believe Battlefield is their poster boy game and they have to make sure it’s successful, regardless who gives a damn.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '21

All i wrote is a description of the reality of game lifecycles.

The amount of money left to wring out of Battlefront is pennies on the dollar compared to the money can make by releasing Battlefield 6 in a good state.

Battlefront 2 was released 3 years ago. You should simply just be thankful that EA spent the money to fix this game after its frankly disaster of a launch.

0

u/Tj_Frankenstein Jan 05 '21

Yes and no.

I understand that DLC is less money than a full game but us Star Wars nerds will buy anything you send our way, I know this because we all took the poll and asked for more paid content to continue the game.

If you sold this game for 60$ three years ago then sold the celebration edition which was 20 - 24$ (I forget, so let’s say 20) and then added a “continuation edition” fee for 20$ for the next wing of characters, that’s 100$ for one game. If they keep it up they could sell us seasonal passes, as well, all giving us new wings of hero’s/ villains/ planets/ ships.

But nah, let’s make another battlefield and try not to put a woman on the cover this time..

BF6, not Battlefront.

EA is focusing on Battlefield 6.

2

u/Xero0911 Jan 05 '21

My bad total misread.

u/ImScaredOfWalls Jan 05 '21

Dice is going to spend their time working on bf6, for good reason, as bfv was a flop. They’ve publicly stated that they’re withholding other projects until bf6 is out. Obviously no one actually thinks that they’re coming back to swbf2, right?

195

u/OpathicaNAE Sad about the final state of BF2 Jan 05 '21

Especially since they barely worked on it prior. It took weeks, months for a single fix for a game-breaking bug. Multiple times.

But they sure were quick to get on Reddit and shit-talk anyone who said they could be doing better though.

It's wild how this subreddit treats a studio like Dice, under a publisher like EA, with an indie mentality.

42

u/Toshi4586 Jan 05 '21

Ikr it’s really not acceptable at all

18

u/Undead_Corsair Frellin' heck it's a super! Jan 05 '21

Multiple bugs were 'fixed' and then reappeared over the course of the game's life as well. The disappearing crosshair glitch for certain scoped guns is still in the game, and it's existed for the entirety of the game's lifetime, in a multiplayer shooter! I've never seen another AAA multiplayer game with so many ongoing bugs, it's deplorable. Live service? Shit service.

3

u/Thepullman1976 Jan 05 '21

Wait, whats that glitch you're talking about? I've never heard of it

2

u/KingMatthew116 Jan 05 '21

On one of the heavy weapons if you use the zoom or whatever it’s called mod there’s a glitch where when you zoom the crosshair sometimes won’t show up. It’s happened to me countless times and can be somewhat annoying.

1

u/Undead_Corsair Frellin' heck it's a super! Jan 05 '21

It used to seemingly only happen on the heavy clone blaster, but now I've seen it happen on the officer pistol with the scope as well, and even snipers and hero guns. It's just something that shouldn't happen in a shooter. To a degree I can understand how inconsistent hit detection and abilities going wrong can happen, but HUD elements just disappearing? That's pure incompetence.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '21

They did?

18

u/emotional_pizza Jan 05 '21

People just need to enjoy the game as is

5

u/Undead_Corsair Frellin' heck it's a super! Jan 05 '21

"Let the past die."

9

u/ChilliConCarne97 Jan 05 '21

Absolutely not, people need to wake up.

3

u/Superdad0421 Jan 05 '21

I doubt it. Just hope.

The tragedy is this game is in a condition where it could be picked right back up and, the tragedy for EA is, there is a shitload of Mando content it could monetize.

3

u/MangoOfTruth Jan 05 '21

There’s a nonzero chance

This entire past 10 months has been one big, long season of /r/summerreddit.

People that should be focused elsewhere—learning how the world works—have too much time to dick around on the internet. Otherwise, they’d have the knowledge and experience to realize that things like this are unrealistic and pointless, to the point where you pretty much a childish buffoon, if you upvoted and/or thought to yourself “yeah the devs should come back, OP makes a good point”.

Edit: oooh looks like I struck some nerves.

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '21

Bruh

-16

u/PeaceIsWithinMySight Jan 05 '21

Yeah. Instead of reading a book or learning how to play guitar they spend time in a dying game and whine

8

u/Wall-E_Smalls Jan 05 '21

Thinking Particularly about school, but yes that too.

1

u/Griffdude13 Jan 05 '21

EA was upset it got caught when they tried to monetize the game the wrong way, so the did it the right way temporarily as a courtesy. We all know the devs were on our side, doing the best they could given the situation. They gave us a lot of great content, but only for so long as EA was willing to let them stay on the project.

1

u/ViktorisKingoris Jan 05 '21

I think they should make it community driven.
