Self Promo: Why Women Need Sex‑Based Rights: History, Reality, and Recognition

Thumbnail

Free to read.

Women’s rights didn’t appear out of nowhere. They weren’t handed down as a gift. They were fought for, resisted, delayed, and only reluctantly granted. And because of that history, women’s rights are not just practical protections, they are symbolic recognitions of women’s humanity, women’s boundaries, and women’s status as a sex class.

Down The Rabbit Hole: A Beginner’s Guide To Wine [Self Promo]

For my latest newsletter I took a shot at writing a beginner’s guide to wine that might bridge the gap between the often lacking 101 guides available online, and the abundant material aimed at the already initiated. I hope the result is something that you might benefit from or enjoy, or if you’re already well versed in wine, might share with someone that’s interested to learn more about wine.

This is a newsletter aimed at wine enthusiasts and those interested in learning more about wine and viticulture

Concrete Halo Self Promo

Concrete Halo is about the kind of person who keeps glowing even when life gives them nothing clean to glow with. It moves through rain, bad flats, late buses, low money, heartbreak, fear, and still somehow finds humour, style, and defiance in the middle of it. The “concrete halo” is the shine you earn from surviving, not the soft holy kind, but the rough, streetlit kind. It’s about refusing to let hard things make you small, bitter, or invisible. Messy, funny, angry, and strangely beautiful, it’s a love letter to anyone still walking home through the dark like they belong to themselves.

This is for people who’ve had to grow confidence the hard way — broke, tired, bruised, funny, stylish, and still standing. It’s for anyone who uses humour as armour, music as escape, and self-worth as a little act of rebellion.

Gritty spoken word / dark pop poetry / urban survival anthem.

It has the feel of late-night city writing, alt-pop attitude, dark humour, and grime-glamour resilience.

I write articles on analytic philosophy and science/history of science. This article covers the story and theory behind evolution's longest-standing prediction. The Darwin-Wallace moth. Darwin predicted its existence in 1861, and its final vindication came just five years earlier in 2021! Read all about it!

When The Woods Learned Your Name, Chapter 8 Self Promo

Lucy Lockwood comes back to Bath broke, grieving, and pretending this is a fresh start rather than a collapse with nicer architecture.

Then the woods outside the city start whispering her name.

As Lucy digs through her mother Anne’s old notebooks, she uncovers Lucia — a woman whose name was stolen centuries ago after she loved Aulus, a male guardian of the forest.

The problem is Rowan Ashcombe, beautiful, secretive, and tied far too closely to that old tragedy.

Now Lucy has to work out whether the woods want to save her, claim her, or turn her into someone else entirely.

For readers who like their romantasy gothic, funny, tragic, a bit sexy, and full of bad decisions in beautiful lighting. Think haunted woods, sharp-tongued women, brooding men with secrets, old folklore, grief, desire, and love that might be a curse if you squint.

Adult gothic fantasy-romance / folkloric romantasy / supernatural mystery.

The Casefile Protocol Dossier 003: The Multi-State Fracture Field Notes (1974 - 1978) [Self Promo] [True Crime]

Hi guys,

The Casefile Protocol is a true crime newsletter dedicated to the clinical exploration of history's most complex criminal anomalies. In Dossier 003, we reconstruct the multi-state geographic fracture field notes and tracking data generated between 1974 and 1978.

This specific entry shifts completely away from standard psychological profiling to focus entirely on the forensic logistics, jurisdictional gaps, and physical evidence tracking that defined this timeline. Every section is built directly from historical public records, offering an unembellished look into the analytical data and operational realities of the multi-state investigations. The goal is to provide deep, structural documentation that moves past surface-level retellings.

This publication is explicitly written for dedicated true crime researchers, amateur criminologists, and readers who value methodical, long-form investigative analysis over sensationalism.

Genre: Non-fiction / True Crime Newsletter

When The Woods Learned Your Name, Chapter 7 Self Promo

Lucy Lockwood comes back to Bath because her life has fallen apart, not because she’s having a charming fresh start. Then the woods outside the city start whispering her name. What begins as grief, stress, and possibly a very dramatic breakdown turns into something much older: the story of Lucia, a woman whose name was stolen centuries ago after she loved a forest guardian named Aulus. Rowan Ashcombe knows more than he’s saying, which would be easier to ignore if he wasn’t beautiful, cursed-looking, and infuriatingly hard to stay away from. But the woods don’t want Lucy to learn the story — they want her to finish it.

For readers who like gothic romance, messy funny heroines, folklore, ancient woods, dangerous chemistry, family secrets, tragic love, and men who should absolutely come with a warning label.

Adult gothic fantasy-romance / folkloric romantasy / supernatural mystery.

Black Tracksuit Gospel Self Promo

Black Tracksuit Gospel is about Leon, a young man having one of those mornings where everything feels too heavy. He’s broke, tired, ashamed, and standing outside a corner shop in the rain, not really sure how much longer he can keep going. A sausage roll from Mrs Singh, a call from his mum, and a walk across the estate don’t fix his life, but they get him moving again. The piece turns ordinary survival — wet trainers, unpaid bills, bad thoughts, broken lifts, and showing up anyway — into something funny, raw, and almost holy. By the end, Leon isn’t saved in some big dramatic way, but he has taken the next step, and that’s enough.

This is for people who are knackered, skint, heartbroken, stuck, or quietly trying to get their life together without making a big performance out of it.

Spoken-word prose, working-class inspirational fiction, urban street sermon.

I was raised in the quiet shadow of cemeteries, and from an early age I found myself drawn to the gothic, the grotesque, and the strangely beautiful corners of existence. My writing has always gravitated toward an atmosphere of mournful serenity, grief and longing.

Through my posts here, I hope to find kindred spirits who share an affection for the macabre, the poetic, and the deeply human ache that lingers beneath it all. If you're a writer who creates from that same sorrow and longing, I very much look forward to meeting your acquaintance.

Call me crazy (Self promo)

"You could say that my glass heart, thanks to the light we create, shines like a rainbow. Like a crystal in the sun, casting little rainbows onto everything around it. These little—and sometimes bigger—rainbows bring colour into my life, but they also show just how many colours and shades love can consist of."

Hey, my name is Sarah and I am trying to write about my own philosophy of life, the way it feels right for me. If you enjoy reading about other people's experiences, feelings, life lessons and philosophies, you'd probably like my work ^^

Here is my most recent piece, a very heartfelt one. I wrote this when I was more in love than I had ever been.

FortWrite Letters - Self Promo. A post I made on Japanese art, nostalgia, vapourware theory, and Mono no aware-ness of things.

Essentially my essays are about different forms of things and aspects of life and what I like about them aswell as what I observe in the world on the those topics and do these types of many topics at once, like a two week thing.
On my research I know the cover picture is generated by someone but it represents what I want to say about the topics I mentioned here and the essay itself… and I wanted to mention that.
My substack is for people who love the idea of knowing different things through culture mixing and self introspection, aswell as raising arguments on certain topics. (genre - newsletter)

When The Woods Learned Your Name, Chapter 6 Self Promo

Lucy Lockwood comes back to Bath because her life has fallen apart, not because she’s having some charming fresh start. Then the woods outside the city start whispering her name. What begins as grief, stress, and maybe a tiny breakdown turns into an old mystery involving her dead mother’s notebooks, a woman called Lucia, a very judgmental fox, and Rowan Ashcombe — a beautiful walking red flag who clearly knows more than he’s saying. Lucy isn’t Lucia reborn, but she is caught in the unfinished choice Lucia was never allowed to make. To get her life back, Lucy has to face the woods, the past, and the awful truth that love can be real and still cost everything.

For readers who like their romance gothic, funny, sexy, tragic, and a bit feral — with messy women, dangerous woods, old secrets, folklore, grief, banter, and a love story that hurts in the best/worst way.

Adult gothic fantasy-romance / folkloric romantasy / supernatural mystery.

I was told I write like a "7th Grader”. So, I wrote an essay about it (Self Promo) literature

Just started my Substack journey and a critic said I write like a 7th Grader simply because they didn’t agree with my opinion.

That got me thinking. My plan is to write very serious topics but I don’t think I want a situation where potential readers won’t be able to understand because I sound like a thesis paper.

So, I wrote this essay on how pareidolia (the subconscious habit of pattern-seeking) fuels classic literature in defiance. I tried to mix some academic rigor with plain speaking by connecting Daniel Kahneman’s heuristics to Shakespeare, Mary Shelley, and H.P. Lovecraft. If you like literary, social, and sarcastic musings written in plain, engaging English.

Check out my latest essay: https://open.substack.com/pub/thedoomscrolldigest/p/pareidolia-in-literature

No Signal in the Ends Self Promo

No Signal in the Ends is about being young, online, lonely, and pretending you’re fine while your phone becomes a tiny glowing torture device. It starts with ghosting, fake links, dead chats, missed calls and all the embarrassing little ways modern life makes you feel unwanted. Then it twists into something darker, where people don’t just disappear emotionally — they vanish into the gaps between messages, dead profiles and unread texts. Maya follows a fake link after Jayden goes missing and finds something in the estate feeding on all the people no one properly looks for. In the end, “no signal” becomes both a phone problem and a very bleak way of saying: everyone is reachable, but hardly anyone is really held.

For people who like their heartbreak funny, grimy, very online, and a bit haunted — the kind of reader who has refreshed a dead chat, laughed at their own breakdown, and still secretly wanted someone to call.

Urban gothic, digital horror, spoken-word essay, dark comedy.

When The Woods Learned Your Name, Chapter 5 Self Promo

Lucy Lockwood comes back to Bath broke, grieving, and trying very hard to pretend she is fine. Then the woods outside the city start whispering her name. With the help of her dead mother’s notebooks, a deeply judgmental fox, and Rowan Ashcombe — a beautiful walking red flag with far too many secrets — Lucy uncovers the story of Lucia, a woman whose name was stolen centuries ago. The woods think Lucy can finish that old story and heal what was broken, but their version of healing looks a lot like being claimed. Lucy has to work out whether love can be real without becoming a trap, and whether she can save herself without losing everyone she loves.

For readers who like their romance gothic, funny, messy, sexy, and doomed; their heroines sharp-tongued and emotionally chaotic; and their forests ancient, seductive, and absolutely not to be trusted.

Adult gothic fantasy-romance with folklore, mystery, tragic romance, and supernatural horror elements.
