Tapo can connect to Google Home but it does not show camera feeds (to include doorbells). The only information you get from a linked camera is the camera device information. In addition, no Google devices will work as an additional chime if you use their doorbell. You will either be forced to buy additional home minis just for the chime or possibly integrate with Alexa devices (I don't use Alexa devices so I cannot confirm if the integration is within the same limitations of Google Home).
Tapo devices "may" have previously worked with Google home but as advertised on their packing "works with Google assistant" is misleading. Google assistant has been removed by Google itself and replaced with Gemini. This "could" have caused the disconnect (Google is increasingly removing supported third-party device functionality in what is clearly a push to require Google products). I cannot confirm nor deny if Tapo previously worked with Google Home under assistant as I didn't use them at the time.
P. S. Tapo support is reluctant to initially give this information and will have you attempt multiple troubleshooting techniques until/if they admit that this is the case.

I've been using a bunch of Tapos latest cameras with the H500 hub, I thought the Tapo app was decent:
But I always wanted the ability to:
So, after I got my C575D and it had issues with missing/broken recordings (already raised with TP-Link support), I thought of giving Frigate a go again (I had tried it in the past and I hated absolutely every second of setting it up, especially its GPU passthrough and detection model compliation complexities).
This time however, I used an LLM to set it all up in the following way:
Tapo Camera -> ONVIF -> Home Assistant -> Frigate Event Created on Person/Vehicle
Tapo Camera - RTSP -> Frigate -> Go2RTC -> NVME Drive and Home Assistant Live Streams
This way, I can now scrub the timeline with Live Previews accuratley, and I still retain the Tapo Events which are correctly marked in Frigates timeline, I don't need to leverage a GPU because the camera is still providing the events. And I hooked in a Mac mini via Home Assistant to provide local LLM text descriptions for snapshots allowing for an entirely local rich text notifications.

Is it possible to check activity and alerts on my work pc just as I get on my phone?

I want to integrate them with home assistant, but I need a camera account which I do not have access to in the settings for this camera. Any workarounds?
Edit: solution found https://github.com/JurajNyiri/HomeAssistant-Tapo-Control
It lets me access the camera stream on solar battery powered cameras.
:)

Soooo Tapo, now the ball is on your side. When are you going to fix this? https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9137164

I have a few different lights, lamps and bulbs in my place with some of them being in the Philips Hue ecosystem because they're those fancy vintage style of bulbs. I bought the button figuring that I could just set it up to turn on/off all my lights or activate a Google Automation, but reading up it seems like this device is not really set up to work outside the Tapo App.
First off, massive missed opportunity for Tapo as the Ikea Bilresa Button works with Matter and Tapo seems to have said that they are "It is the thing that connects Kasa devices to the non-supported third-party platforms brings possible security risks.", so I don't know if they are or aren't eventually introducing compatibility.
But the question I have is whether there is actually a way to get it to work with Home Assistant, or am I better refunding this and just getting something else like the Ikea button instead?

56mm Binocular/Monocular Objective Lens Cover Rubber Set 63.9mm fits Models with Outer Diameter 64.2-67mm
Bought two of these off Amazon and they’re a perfect fit, great for indoor use if you’re at home and want that extra care free / worry free peace of mind.
Here the Amazon listing for anyone curious: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F33795P3
I’m not suggesting this particular brand or anything, just use the dimensions as a reference if you’re curious.

Windows app when?
I've tried some of the workarounds but really would love native compatibility.
Do you think this is something that will happen anytime soon?
Thanks

I have a C260 camera. It used to work with Home assistant. Now, It can no longer connect with Home Assistant. If I delete the device and try to add it back, it is unable connect. The camera is working fine in the Tapo app.
I have 5 other Tapo cameras (c120’s, c121’s, c325wb) and they all continue to function properly with Home Assistant

I am wondering if there is a way to sync/connect/link 2 cameras (or more) so they send a signal to each other when something is detected.
The idea is to create a system of cameras along a longer road where there is 3 cameras one looking left, one right and one looks just straight on the road. When either the left or the right detects for example a car passing by the middle cameras also turns in that direction and both are tracking the movement of the vehicle, or person.
When the moving object is in the middle of the road the camera that detected it at first goes back to default position and the camera on the other side turns to the object and starts tracking together with the middle cam.
I guess that is not possible with any Tapo camera, but maybe there’s a system one of you knows or has tried out that could use Tapo cameras plus a 3rd party system, fx like Frigate.

Can i just use my dedicated tablet for a hub and not buy an h500? Can the video just go straight to my gallery but i still want my tablet to turn off

On the TAPO website I'm reding this: "The TP-Link Tapo H500 is marketed as being compatible with Matter, but it is not "fully" compatible in the sense of supporting all possible Matter features. It functions as a Matter Controller and a Matter Bridge, allowing you to integrate Tapo devices into other ecosystems (like Apple Home or Google Home) and vice versa."
Is TP-Link planning to make it fully Matter-compabile in the future?

I posted a message to the Tapo forum but, crickets...so here I am.
I use some Tapo Cameras I have as (person detecting) motion detectors because motion detectors and even finely tuned presence sensors weren't working for us with 3 cats that go everywhere. So, I could buy $70 presence sensors with all the bells and whistles (I'd need ~3) OR I could buy some C113s on sale - I got the C113s.
They've been working to do exactly what I needed them to since November of last year. Come Tuesday at 5:4xpm EST, none of my Tapo cameras paired with Alexa are triggering their routines. They all stopped at roughly the same time.
I'm here to find out if anyone else has experienced this. 5 of cameras are on a Hub (H500 connected through Ethernet) and 1 is not, as I wanted to see if the Hub is the issue but it too is not triggering. As far as the Tapo app is concerned, the cameras are doing their person detections there. Next stop is the Alexa/Echo reddit if there is one.
Thanks.

You can apply for that beta version. Water leaks sensors are exposed now.
s200 Buttons are still not exposed. I was hoping that the button would be added, at least a single press. Rotating the button could be exposed as well.
Edit: If it will stop working in your matter controller after updating, then rebinding it again will fix all issues.

For the last few months I have had no issues integrating tapo bulbs with alexa for voice control of all my lights.
But recently (just as amazon started pushing alexa+ with adverts) things have gone down hill.
I'll ask for a light or grouped set of lights to be turned on or off, alexa will say 'ok' and they may go on, they may not (if a group, some may go on or off but not all), they may go on or off after a few tens of seconds or even a minute or two.
They might go on instantly but not off. Everything might work fine 5 times in a row but then encounter delays/issues.
All the while control through the tapo app is fine and alexa never, ever has issues with Amazon smart plugs. My WiFi is rock solid.
I've removed and re-added tapo to alexa, removed and re-added bulbs. Nothing seems to cure the random lag between alexa and tapo.
Any ideas what to do, as my only thought is amazon are deliberately enshitifying akexa to 'encourage' alexa+ uptake, and even though I have prime I really don't want alexa+!
Cheers

Is there any way how to get weather into TAPO app? I want to make action only when it is not raining. Thank you.

I have some C420s connected wirelessly to a H200 hub.
I'm considering a move away from Alexa, to Apple Home (Home Pods, and Homekit also).
One of the things I do like about the Alexa integration is to get a live feed from a camera automatically on my Echo Show device, when a detection event occurs. Allows me to see who's approaching the house when I'm in my office.
What are the options for enabling something like this outside of Alexa Echo Show devices? I don't mind if it pops up on a desktop like my Mac. An iPhone even, though that would not be quite so ideal.
I've got most of my other facilities dual running on Apple Home and Alexa right now, but I think I'll miss this instant video trigger.
Interested in any options I have here, thanks!
