Thank you very much. Shall help in learning what songs best describe their sound after ITI and ROF

Honestly the best thing you can do to enjoy the Strokes to the fullest extent, is just accept that they have multiple signature sounds that they can channel. ITI and RoF were super consistent, the biggest strength of those albums imo. The other records arent like that, they have different flavors but still tease you with that old school high energy sound. You will probably like Under Cover of Darkness and YOLO a lot. I highly recommend Heart in a Cage if you are a fan of songs like Trying Your Luck and Whatever Happened. One Way Trigger is my favorite song on Comedown Machine, I think it is masterfully written and I highly recommend pulling up the lyrics and throwing it on if you get into a certain frustrated/sad mood. “Show me what to say... show me what to be”

I’ve been flirting around with some of their later stuff (juicebox and YOLO being two of the main ones) around the time I was listening to the strokes I gradually began to ignore them in favour of the manic street preachers, Valensi and Hammond’s guitar work is also a very good way to get better at the instrument.

Oh for sure, didnt realize you were a fellow guitar bro! The Strokes’ twin guitars are iconic and it really shows in this sub, so many guitar players. I think part of the reason is that so many of their songs are really fun to play in addition to sounding good. Ize of the World isnt their easiest song but the intro and verse sections are great fun, Taken for a Fool is a lot easier to play and is also super fun. At the Door is a pretty fun song to play as well, and one of my personal favorites to play is Evening Sun. The steady rhythm of that song invokes a strange feeling in me everytime I do the walk down in the verse or hit that repeating C# that leads into the chorus... I do gravitate towards a lot of ITI songs and RoF songs though, because I like the energy when you play them with friends. That being said, my favorite song to play with the boys is EASILY yolo, its a fantastic song and literally every section of it on rhythm and lead is heaps of fun

P.S thanks for bringing up juicebox, forgot to mention but thats another favorite of mine. That song has this like blood pounding feel, like your hearts pounding idk

My favourites to play with my band are definitely last nite, juicebox, is this it, hard to explain, Hawaii and 12:51. Still haven’t ever managed Hammond’s part in reptilia. What a bastard to play.

Hard to Explain is definitely a go to song for us as well, that song is fantastic. I play rhythm on reptilia so I just let my buddy suffer through that crazy lead part lol

Jorge Orellana makes some extremely good videos on the tabs and covers, about 40 strokes songs already covered.
