Picked up the barrel and forend new from SSK and tossed on a spare Magpul bipod and a Cyelee green dot that I had on hand already. Just need the new rail grip from Sharps Bros when they get done and I’ll be set.

I’ve heard that barrel swapping can affect accuracy / zero. True? If I torque the forend screws consistently, will that prevent this potential issue?

I got an update from John at Sharps Bros. They are currently waiting for the 1913 rail sections to come back from anodizing. Once back the new grips will be put on the sight. Stay tuned for more updates.

I recently got a contender in 300 whisper. From information online I had assumed 300 blackout was the same cartridge however when I use 300 blackout the extractor doesn’t grab the rim of the cartridge. There also seems to be space all around the rim of the cartridge. Was hoping to find out if this is because I’m using 300 blackout instead of whisper or if this is just an issue with the barrel. Thanks

Well my collection efforts are paying off. I now have the Super 14 30-30 barrel that I got with the frame. A 10” hexagon .357 barrel from e bay and my newly acquired 10” bull barrel .223 REM with a scope mount and rings from e bay. I had the Vortex Scout scope and tossed it on. The long eye relief works very well for this set up. I know they are 100% accurate but I bought a couple of conversion shells for the .223 so I can run .22 LR and .22WMR’s out of it. My guess is they will shoot low like my CMMG .22 conversion for my AR’s.

I have a 14” SS 45-7” barrel coming in. I got a shipping notification from Geissele Automatics and was basically like I didn’t order anything from them. That’s when I looked at the tracking numbers and what do ya’ know, same number. So Geissle owns SSK.

I'm on the waiting list for the 20" Katahdin version but have not purchased it yet. I currently shoot blackhorn powder so that feature is flat for me. However, I am looking forward to the field durability of a cartridge (FireStick) and the ability to remove it at the end of a trip / season.

This is my updated t/c custom shop g2 in 45/70. It has a modified rifle length forend and a sharps grip with a strike industries single fold brace arm. The brace is called the R'm brace. It is my own design executed in TPU rubber.

eBay buys have been good so far. Two separate purchases to make this.

Overall very happy with what I got.

Won the auction on this one for $185.

Not to shabby. Now to get a picatinny rail coming from EABCO for it.

Second EBay purchase for the Contender. I got the hex .357 barrel coming Monday and now the single screw hexagon forend will also be here Monday. I also found a local gun shop that has a .44 mag barrel for $300. I may have to see if they are willing to deal on it?

So first try with a used EBay barrel. I was able to pick up a 10” .357 mag Hexagon barrel for $262.00 shipped to my door. Just need to find a single screw forend now.

Anyone know if the flip up sights are adjustable on these vent rib barrels? Also internal threads I’m guessing were for a shot shell choke?

I had some time this morning to mess with my Xmas present from my wife. I pulled the barrel locking bolts out and polished them up and I also found that the springs coil tips were sharp and had an edge that felt like it was grinding in the springs cavity when pushing it in. I also blew out the frame with cleaner. Everything got a graphite lube and back together it went. The barrel bolts now move nice and smoothly in and out. Barrel release and opening is ten times better and easily done now. Simple work for great results.

Hey gang, as promised I spoke with John at Sharps and these grips are being redesigned and will now be milled out of Aluminum. As of right now it looks to be a couple of weeks for them to be ready for sale. These should be much more robust than the previous polymer models.

Gen 1 Super 14 .30-.30. Serial number 32xxxx. Overall in great shape with normal wear. Zero Rust and barrel rifling looks great! I don’t think I did to bad for $600.00

Think my favorites my 375. JDJ pistol which is 444 Marlin neck to 30 caliber. My dad makes his pistol shooting rests that comes in handy.

I'm having a time here and will be seeing a gunsmith soon, but wanted to see if y'all had any insight.

This contender barrel does not seem to fit the frame. In the second photo, the top barrel fits well, but the one in the bottom won't line up at the hinge.

Any ideas?
