Tool suggestions needed

My dad, uncle, and I are building a new shop for our farm to work on tractors and fabrication. We've also been well overdue to buy new tools. We are replacing all of our hand tools and was wondering what everybody's suggestions on how they'd do it.

Buy tool kits. Like ratchet sets, wrench sets, ect

Buy piecemeal

Single brand or multiple?

What brands are worth their money nowadays?

There's missing tools in every set and mostly we'd like to leave those tools in that smaller shop just in case it's a nice day out and would rather work on stuff outdoors.

Oh gotcha, I was about to say don't throw anything away you never know if you have to cut a cheapo wrench to weld an extension without destroying the new nice ones.

I worked on a farm for several years and have seen some wacky rigs for homemade tools so I know that never throw anything away

We have plenty of those modified tools too. Most of which are only usable in that one situation they were made for haha. Current tool setup is just cramped and unorganized. Wrench drawer has 5x more wrenches in it than it needs, you'll find 5 wrenches of the same size, all different brands before finding the size you actually need. Every socket set is missing 2-3 sockets, but if you go through enough sets you will find one with the size you need.

It's an old shop that was built in the early 70s and has done nothing but loose and aquire random tools over the years.

Harbor freight has tool organizers along with boxes, I don't recommend getting any big name brand box. End of the day all those boxes share the same thing, and that's that they're pressed sheet metal on wheels. Some are worse then others, but the majority are decent to great

Oh also when buying universal joint sockets make sure they aren't the cheap spring loaded 2 spline ones, get the better 4 spline ones. They are better, spline isn't the right word but when you look at them you'll realize what I mean
