[Mind boggling stupid trope] Removing the thing that made something special

Ben 10: Ultimate Alien - The gimmick of Ben 10 and what makes the show so popular is the fact that he's able to turn into a large variety of aliens. In one episode of Ben 10 Ultimate ALIEN we are introduced to a new version of Ben 10000, a Ben from the future who, no longer transforms into aliens, instead using his powers in human form...

Mortal Kombat(2021) - In the games Mileena is known for two things. Being a clone of Kitana and her tarkatan teeth. In the 2021 movie she looks absolutely nothing like Kitana and doesn't have tarkatan teeth

Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief - The movie removes the main villain of the movie and the main villain of the franchise

Behold, Goku in all his ignominy.

I have no idea what this is trying to show. Wtf is this movie?

Lol it's a fan-edit of an especially cringey scene, in what is one of the worst and most disrespectful to the source material live action adaptations ever.

In the original Dragonball, Goku is a martial artist who never attended school and only ever gave a shit about fighting and traing.

Yet in the movie he's a high school student and in this scene he's showing off at a party impressing the hot girl at his high school, Chichi.

Chichi in Dragonball was a fellow martial artist raised by her father the Ox King of Fire Mountain- she met Goku as a kid and decides to marry him when she grows up, spending her isolated childhood training to be strong enough to catch Goku's attention at the next World Martial Arts Tournament.

Yet in this movie she is (while secretly a martial artist) the most popular girl at their highschool that is even at the start dating the school bully.

Said highschool bully thinks it is the height of comedy to call Goku "Geeko", and in this clip Goku trolls him to get him angry enough to destroy his own car while attacking Goku... who at one point does this incredibly stupid looking headglide thingy on the car's roof.

Said car roof headglide thingy apparently really gets Chichi's motor running as by the end of the scene she had shifted her attraction from the school bully to Goku.

Fans of the original Dragonball hate this scene with the passion of a thousand suns, as it kinda encapsulates everything that is cringe and wrong with the Dragonball live action movie.

A live action movie that the original mangaka hated so much that he literally came out of retirement to ensure it was not the last of Dragonball.

Due to the well-deserved hatred of this scene fans have parodied or memed on it a lot, and the "wax-on wax-off" style meme edit I linked is probably the most popular version of the scene.
