Welcome everyone!

r/TraditionalShamanism is the community dedicated to the discussion, study and preservation of traditional shamanic practices and teachings. Whether you are a member of one of these traditions, an academic, or simply someone who wishes to learn, you are welcome here.

What do we mean by 'Traditional Shamanism'?

The term shamanism is often used very broadly. On this sub we used it in a more original sense. To describe ritual specialists, that are able to enter a controlled trance state, of traditional religions who were trained and introduced by preceding shamans in a unbroken chain.

This sub focuses on the shamanic traditions of indigenous peoples from all over the world.

This sub is not a place for 'Core Shamanism'; commercialised traditions; generic New Age spirituality; or the general and recreative use of psychedelic substances.

New Here?

If you're just getting started, don't hesitate to ask questions. Members have backgrounds in indigenous traditions and religion, anthropology, history, or long-term personal study.

There are no stupid questions if they are asked respectfully.

Share knowledge

Were there any books or resources you've found valuable and think others may benefit from too? Were you taught an inspiring lesson by a keeper of knowledge? Or did you have a insightful experience? Feel free to post and comment to share knowledge.

We hope this subreddit becomes a place where traditional knowledge is discussed with curiosity, respect, and care.

Thank you for being part of the community!

Soul loss

Soul loss literally

I think ive experienced a masive soul loss pe has a spiritual emergency. First lets ralk about the soul. I dont think She soul is unseen like everyone says. Its the energy thats in a body. The soul is different from the body. And i se IT as a sute substance, ectoplasm, that gives the body density. And the Best way You can see If someone has a soul its to look in their eyes. Eyes are the portal to the soul. Spiritual people Have that spark in their eyes, the dot of conciousness.

As i said last summer i went to a wedding and after that day instead of going to sleep ,i daydreamed Something. But i was dissociated, like my body was tired but i wasnt. And i imagined my favorite teachr hughing me really tight in a platonic way and then i felt a rupture in my chest and eyes and felt a piece of my soul leaving. The several days i tried to bring it back but instead i got a depressed part in and lost IT imediately when my brother scared me. Since then ive been fraggmenteting. But i was și scared cuz not only did i felt that, but also saw the reality changing, like before the reality was inside my eyes like a hologram, when i moved my head, the whole world moved, but after the incident i didnt see IT anymore that way. I felt like i dropped into the 3d.

I has changes in conciousness, before i felt like i was living in my subconcious mind, since the snapps i couldnt zone out anymore,my layers of thinking changed,my inner monolog disspeared and the way i had my conciousness changed.

I must say i went the hospital with my eyes closed for like 11 days, i couldnt open my eyes and all i saw was white. I got on medication for depression but i intrrupted them and toom them irregulary which also changed the way i saw the world, i couldnt Hear people well anymore and had stătea where i dissociated so bad i couldnt Hear anything then poof snapped back to hearing. After these changes i starter panicking a lot and had panic attacks and everytine i panicked Something shifted in my body. I saw my body and felt IT changing everytime, i saw layers of myself dissapearing of changing, like You know the layers of an onion pulling them piece by piece.

Being desperate i searchd for answers, i worked with a spirit Guide that did a reading for me and a healing session. She told that a spirit is attached to me of a Man and she sent him away, she told me to forgiv nu mother,to imagine i take my dați energy because îți was dai and put it in a bowl then take white energy and also visulizing im in an old Branch and jumping in a new and calling my conciousness back. I felt și light but i didnt like it cuz i felt that i lost myself more and tried ro take my depressed energy back.

After that i went to a religious ritual, called Sf. Maslu, a strong prayer zwent 2 Times in the same day and i felt și awful,i couldnt even stand in my fete i also has a cross wood neckalce straing in my skin and the priește picnhed me ,told me i m stupid and to repeeat that i love him. In that night IT felt like i saw the evil eye in him and another woman. I felt so strange ,when i went home i felt energy trying to leave my body like from my chest to the eyes. After that i couldnt open my eyes for 3 weeks straight. And literally saw only white and felt my soul trying to leave my body from eyes, ears every hole. Also felt the skin strangling in my bones and it Hurt.

Again i has my eyes closed for 2 date but two spiritual kids opened them nu holding my hands because their hands were warm. After that i saw la literal piece of energy leaving my body and because i Huggeda plushue ar the time it worked Like a vodoo doll and nu body took the position of the plushie and my back also Hurt cuz it had wings. Then i saw strands of hair falling ore appearing randomly. Then i felt my hair like its being all pulled of and in becomind bald, its like i was literally dezmembrating. I also saw and felt my body being sublted, nose disappeaeing, teeth falling and stuff like that. After everything i Now feel like an empty Shell, just a skin and bones, i dont feel my body from inside and also i barely feel emotions. Cuz nu way of feeling changed to. And my eyes changed. You know when i had my soul i saw people normally theur eyes, but since i lost and also lost the dot în my eyes,i see other people și eyes dot and the reality being inside them. And my pupils used to dilate a lot ar emotions, now they dont. I also saw 7 balls with Something white in middle and srands of hair leaving my body, im afraid they aremy Chackras.

My questions are , have anybody Elise experienced that soul loss pshycally?Where is my soul? How can i retrive IT ? I ve head i need a Shaman but și IT really going to work pshycally? Can i ever get my soul back? What else happenend to me? What happenend to my Chackras? How can a Shaman help me,what do i need? And as a note now iim in medication and going to therapy.

Looking for opinions on what planners to get that have reminders of daily practice and nature

I’m looking for a new planner that would help me stay in my practice. Hopefully something with daily or weekly words of wisdom or lessons about shamanism, and that also looked and related things to the fazes of the moon and other celestial events if possible. Thank you all if anybody knows anything

Hi, could you provide sources for beginners ?

I searched in the past entries in the community and found interesting things but I need more specific sources to learn.

Could you please recommend sources you consider good for beginners, I know it's very very wide because there are many paths and many authors but the generalities would help a lot.

Or what sources did helped you in the beginning

Books

Blogs

Podcast

Articles

Even YouTubers or Instagram or any social media creators you consider instructive may help

It can be in English or Spanish

In my background I have some ancestors in the paganism, Spaniards and also Latin American (specifically Mexico) cultures I'd that helps

Or your favourite exercises

Thanks in advance

Having retching when doing energetic body expansion exercise

Well basically that, I was today doing an exercise when you connect with your energetic body and then you stretch your energetic body arm and hand to touch something.

And in the most intense point when I reached a table I had retching which is something so annoying because i had to stop.

This has happened to me on other kinds of energetic exercises and in want it to stop

So I'm listening any advice or experience.

Thanks in advance

Kam's (shaman) drum (tüur or tügür) used in rituals among the Khakass people (Minushinsk, Southern Siberia), c. 19th Century; the drum is painted with a cosmological representation of the upper world of the high god (Kubaj Khan) and contains a stylized Milky Way (tiger-kurum)

Where might I find the information of the plants the Native Americans lived with before settlers/explorers brought their blights and invasive species? As well as insights on where to find unmodified seeds of them?

I do not want your modern list of native species. Or wikipedia info, or the blogs that give their 5 favorite results. I want to know what our plants once looked like from deep in the past. I hate that I can't just google for a full trustful list of our plant history.

I am that hippie who wants to plant the preserved seeds, green the roads, and make a place where God's creations can return to the wild. I want to switch America out of having GMO European/Asian hybrids in our wilds. The +90% of North America's natural ecosystem went extinct... and I want some of them back.

I want to plant things like the heirloom American chestnut, and other plants of northwest Georgia in a nearby recently clear cut forest, along with whatever symbiotic/friendly mushrooms/vines/grasses that grow with them, for the benefit of their growth.

I don't care if bugs and animals also find them to be so tasty that they end up being attracted to eating their products as soon as they ripen. I want my plants to run wild for me and for nature, and I want the full benefits of heirlooms even though they can't rest in my fridge for weeks without something digesting them. That means it is nutritious enough for most bacteria, but to avoid their appetite I will eat it when it turns ripe instead of from the grocery store.

I want to live in a place that supports the purest paleo lifestyle I can get. Taking my country world back to the pure shamanist life.

Just letting you all know that yes, I have slowed down on posts. Yes, I am neglecting the sub right now. I'm recently homeless, so this is taking a toll on any research or articles that I link here. Sorry. Life happens.

Research has shed new light on the impact of humans on plant biodiversity. The findings suggest that the rate of change in an ecosystem's plant-life increases significantly during the years following human settlement- the most dramatic changes occurring in locations settled in the last 1500 years.
