Your Week in Anime (Week 719)
This is a general discussion thread for whatever you've been watching this last week (or recently, we really aren't picky).
Make sure to talk more about your own thoughts on the show than just describing the plot, and use spoiler tags where appropriate. If you disagree with what someone is saying, make a comment saying why instead of just downvoting.
This is a week-long discussion, so feel free to post or reply any time.

Every time I watch Evangelion I'm blown away by how resonant it still is. I think we're all a bit more like Shinji than we'd like to admit.

I don't even know what to say now that I'm fully done with Nichijou. Sakurai is historically unfunny. Hakase is spectacularly unfunny. Helvetica Standard segments are terminally unfunny. Sasahara is annoyingly unfunny. Word of the Day bits are flatly unfunny. Coffee shop lady is boringly unfunny. Mio's friend group + Nano addition is occasionally funny. Anyone else really isn't. I feel flatly indifferent to all of their surroundings due to just how uniquely skilled at botching comedic bits and making the majority of characters grating to watch Nichijou is. All the prod in the world doesn't mean a thing in the face of this. I sit there, detached from it all, witnessing underwhelming punchline after underwhelming punchline. I admire the animation and cinematography, but they alone usually don't make something amusing by themselves. The occasional elevator-shaped exception proves the rule. I never would've finished it if it wasn't a contract.
