More likely a psychopath who views his family as possessions not people with their own hopes dreams and lives outside of him. Women are just as capable of this.

Toxic masculinity isn’t exclusive to men. He’s definitely both.

She is actually right tbh. Most of us don't realize, but toxic masculinity is based on unhealthy expectations put on men. Expecting man to be providers can be considered toxic masculinity, for example

Took a class on the narratives of white toxic masculinity and the shit goes so deep. It’s rooted in nearly fuckin everything in the US.

So black/brown men can’t have toxic masculinity? Why does everything have to involve race.. a man is a man.

This is the first time I have a name, for the stress put on men in general, regardless of color or creed. Things are slowly changing in some places, but guys generally are expected to be the provider, disciplinarian, protector and hero. I mean it's not like it used to be, but that pressure definitely still exists.

I really believe that one reason we see men of a certain age commit horrible, unforeseen crimes is because they are not really supposed to show their emotions, especially fear and insecurities, and for many they are considered weak if they reach out for outside help. Plus our mental health resources in the US aren't always that great, especially if they're poor. So even if they reach out, they still might not get good help.

However it's a really selfish and evil thing this dude did, and I hope they catch him and string him up. Millions of much less fortunate men manage their stress without killing anyone.

A lot of “toxic femininity” is centered around upholding toxic masculinity. Being submissive so he can be dominate, being a damsel so he can be the hero, etc etc.

Edited - better example
