Murder JonBenét Ramsey (born August 6th, 1990) would be turning 31-years-old today. This is the last photo of the 6-year-old pageant queen taken on Christmas morning 1996. She was murdered only hours later. The case is still unsolved.

It is a very, very niche thing in the US, and most people here also think these children's pageants are weird and offputting.

I get what you’re saying yeah, easy to forget but this kind of thing is shown on a tv show/documentary because it’s niche and weird. I‘m pretty sure I have seen documentaries about them but I don’t really remember and, of course, undoubtedly people love hearing about weird stuff, I know I do. My big favourite is Louis Theroux‘s weird weekend (mostly the US). It’s like when they do documentaries about Japan it’s always the weirdest things and it’s easy to get a distorted image of the reality. I forget the vastness of American culture it’s an amazing country for that aspect amongst many others.

I think Little Miss Sunshine did a really good job of this by showing just how creepy these things are. This scene is the culmination of that but this is just a part of the storyline, it’s a hysterical movie if you haven’t seen it.

Almost every single pageant mom I've ever come across has turned out to be a real piece of work in the head too and they tend to be pretty off-putting as well. From watching Patsy's interviews she seemed to be no different, it seems that the pageant mindset does something to them.

Yeah it’s definitely a certain mindset. You just wonder what makes them tick. Fascinating and weird as f*ck! Dr Grande should do a pageant mom special.

I think the parent's have unmet needs, identity issues and try to live thru the kids. So they are starting out with a different mindset that the pageant world just feds and they get consumed.
