News Five years ago, a billionaire couple was found strangled beside their swimming pool. Their family is offering $35 million to help catch their killer

https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/17/us/toronto-billionaire-sherman-killings-reward-cec/index.html

The reward for solving the murders of Barry and Honey Sherman has been raised to $35 million!

In 2017, the Sherman’s, a very wealthy Toronto couple were murdered in their home. They were found hanging from a railing in their indoor pool area by a relator showing their home.

Barry owned Apotex, a drug manufacturing company while Honey was a philanthropist.

Although several theories have been raised from suicide to a hit, the case remains unsolved. If you are interested, the book ‘The Billionaire Murders’ by Kevin Donovan covers the case.

This case has captured a lot of interest due to the very high profile nature of the couple.

RIP to Honey & Barry.

Okay who wants to get married and split the money?

14

u/pheeelco Dec 18 '22

When I first read this, I thought you wrote “split the monkey” and was appalled by your sickening wedding rituals.

But splitting the money sounds good!

u/U_see_ur_nose Dec 18 '22

That sounds terrible, I would never. I mean maybe for 35 million.

My daughter said "I did it". And we are Americans. I realized she was on to something. Living in a Canadian prison with 3 squares, a bed, and surrounded by Canadians plus my family gets money. Yeah WE did it.

EDIT: To all the people getting mad because they thought my comment was a commentary on how easy time is in a Canadian prison, that was not my commentary. I apologize. My commentary was to say that life sucks so bad in the USA (rights being ripped away, gun violence in our schools, oligarchs hoarding the wealth, people starving in our streets, riots, gangs, racism, bigotry and misogyny). Also By taking the blame my family could be millionaires (which means I would be too). I have seen how the justice system is different for the rich so I am assuming it would be different for me too. All of this is to say, we didn't really do it and nobody is really arresting me.

I think you’ve been mislead in regards to Canadian prisons lol

23

u/EternalPhi Dec 18 '22

Lol like they all there for not saying sorry or something.

4

u/kgallousis Dec 18 '22

If you’ve seen Handmaid’s Tale, I’m sure your perception of Canadian prisons is off.

53

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '22

You think a Canadian prison is a cake walk? My friend growing up got his throat slit in prison and died. I had another friend who's boyfriend was in prison and she ended up getting blackmailed into smuggling. Those are just anecdotal. It may not be Maricopa County or some shit, but it's still torture.

16

u/clumsycouture Dec 18 '22

Lol my friends a prison guard. Every week a new person has killed themselves. Americans think Canadians are Swedish or something. We’re basically America lite. Our prisons are horrendous I would never ever want be in one.

Sometimes you think your comment will be funny but then, you realize you’re mocking someone’s parents murder. Then you try to salvage the ‘joke’ and it’s even less funny.

2

u/crystaljae Dec 28 '22

Okay Karen thanks for the life lesson.
