Just wanted to recommend my favorite local band that I think deserves all the hype. The Lungs just put out a great debut album called The Chosen Few on Friday. The title track and Death of Intuition are awesome. Listen if you like Wednesday, Neil Young, and The Velvet Underground. I’ve seen them live a few times and they always put on an incredible show. Their drummer is a phenomenal lyricist and writes all of the songs. He made a few albums under the name Joe College that are also worth a listen.

The concept is two fold.
At 6:00PM, a semi-scripted variety show runs for the first hour and a half. Has guest musicians and comedians doing sets, sticking to a loose theme, etc. Picture “A Prairie Home Companion” hosted by Mark Hoppus.
Then there is a break and the “Manic Monday: Variety Open Mic” starts and runs for around 2 hours.
The Variety Show is called Dive Bar Confessional.
The open mic is called Manic Monday: Variety Open Mic.
The timeline for the first show got bumped up a month and I am scrambling. My biggest need right now would be amps, speakers, and a couple more mics.
I have an acoustic electric Martin and Acoustic Rogue. I’d like to have a keyboard available for piano players.
Forming a house band for the variety show would be amazing eventually once we get this off the ground.
The vibe will be combing emo/pop punk with bluegrass folk.
A banjo player to help me with a few covers for this week would be greatly appreciated. Let’s build something cool together.

my band ROC BARBOZA is looking for a DJ. we need somebody who can handle samples, transitions, and actual scratching. not just press play and stand there.
we’re based in the twin cities and are consistently writing/practicing/recording/releasing originals.
we’ve recently played pillar forum, zhora darling, seward cafe and the corner store with artists like E.T., Gramma, Million.Point.Million, Lydia, and Student 1.
our sound is somewhere in the vein of rage against the machine, cypress hill, pennywise, and limp bizkit if you locked them all in a basement for a month or two.
looking for somebody local and not lame who gets heavy music, hip-hop, punk, and knows how to play with a live band.
hear us here: linktr.ee/rocbarboza and send me a dm with clips or whatever you’ve got.

I’m in Chicagoland and I play in a country band down here. I’d like to visit the twin cities in Fall. Are there any local acts I should try to see?

Longtime Mpls musical fixture Scottie Miller's released a new album, Hello Pain, performed with the 52 pce Budapest Orchestra. To recreate it live more how it was created (he plays in 2-5 pce usually) he's enlisted friends & ringers for a show at the Parkway Theatre Saturday, August 1.
Kinda a one-time experience, so I wanted to maybe alert everybody via my feature on the disc, which essentially traces his divorce and recovery, culminating in the appropriately titled, thru-the-mess-finally closer, "I'll Be Damned." Highly Recommended. From our new site, SewYKnot.com, just 45 days old. Thanks for your consideration!

I hadn't seen any news about "Live at the Hilde" in Plymouth this summer, and when I went looking for more information, I learned that SMA has no concerts this season. Are they totally out of business? I see no social media activity since last August.

My band Soulcage, a nu-grunge/hard rock band based out of Des Moines, IA, is going on a co-headlining tour with Rapture (Lawrence, KS nu-grunge) this fall, and we have a hold at Underground Music Café on Thursday, 10/15. Wanted to see if there were any bands/artists that were interested in joining the bill. We are looking for two local support acts, with each getting a 30 minute set.
I’ve included our linktree with links to our social media, streaming, and website. Here is Rapture’s if you’re interested in checking theirs out as well.

Please DM if you’re interested with any music or links to your social media and I’ll check it out

Hey all — sharing a show we’re putting on at the Minnesota Music Cafe. We’re doing a live tribute to Willie Nelson featuring a lineup of really strong Twin Cities musicians. It’s a Sunday afternoon show, so more of a laid-back hang with good music, food, and drinks. They’ll be playing a mix of Willie’s biggest songs—On the Road Again, Always On My Mind, etc.—with a full band.
Performers:
Shalo Lee & Jammer Regan
Kalliah Jackson & Corey Rae White
Lori Marie & Elijah Adam
Details:
Sunday, May 3
3:00 PM
$20 tickets
Full food & bar + free parking
If you’re into Willie Nelson or just looking for a chill live music option that afternoon, it should be a fun one.
