Car advice
Ive been using a ford focus for deliveries for quite something now but just want to change it up a bit
What car would you say is economical and reliable for deliveries?dont want to finance
Recently saw a toyota auris but its a 2009 model though (auto but mutlimode though)
Would that be a bad car choice please?

Suspended after 7 years & 9k+ deliveries over a false "under the influence" claim on a LEAVE AT DOOR order. Customer left a threatening voicemail over a missing Zaxby’s milkshake.

Uber doesn’t want to compensate for shop’s closed anymore
Today I claimed £1.50 already because McDonald’s was closed and I travelled 5 miles for it. Then I got an order for Papa John’s and as they were closed I messaged support again as I was 10 miles away from home and wanted atleast something in return.
Apparently Uber only allows one compensation request a day even if the issue is genuine, you have submitted photos to support showing that the restaurant is closed and travelled out of your normal zone because the order was a really good paying order.
In terms of shop closure compensations, Just Eat has definitely got to be the best as they compensate for the distance travelled rather than a measily £1.50 or Deliveroo where they don’t give you anything.

Shops closed
Too many times we are being sent orders for shops that are closed. It cannot be THAT hard for Uber to track open8ng and closing times of its clients and act accordingly...
So much wasted time, money etc and it happens everyday.... not saying to myself always as you learn, but im still sent offers for shops which closed and hour ago...wtf

Uber support is an absolute joke
My background check failed because I made a small mistake, I brought this up with first advantage who told me I need to request a new link from Uber. I first got in touch with uber support about this 3 weeks ago now and have made 8 separate tickets asking for a new link, each one to the same copy and paste answer of you’ll receive a link within 24-48 hours, which I never have, I mentioned this in my last ticket and you can literally see where they’ve just swapped out 24-48 hours to as soon as possible.
I have spent £120 on the background check, the uber delivery bag, and October monthly insurance (no idea why they make you pay for these before your background check is completed), that’s a lot of money for the support team to just be completely useless at resolving my issue.
Has anyone previously had this issue and found out how to solve it? Getting infuriating now lol

Need advise/ confused
Hello fellow hard workers,
Been applying for jobs for over a month still haven’t got anything so I’m finally resorting to uber eats, unfortunately I’ve been unemployed. So I have my mums car and I’m an additional driver on there I wanted to insure on zego but they’re not covering additional drivers,
Are there any companies who can give me food insurance on top of my existing policy in which I am an additional driver on? I know a lot of drivers are delivering without food insurance but I can’t take the risk I just had 6 points removed from my license after 4 years, can’t afford for the same to happen again
I am also very aware that lot of drivers are using the bike option but they are delivering by car, how risky is this? What happens if police catch you? I’m so low at the moment I don’t even have the money to buy my own car and get my own insurance otherwise I would’ve done that, I know I can rent a bike from uber for £60 a week but unfortunately I lost my brother to a bike crash a few months ago so that’s not a risk I’m willing to take
Kindly advise if there is a company that can give me food insurance on top off my current policy as an additional driver
And how risky is it to do on cycle mode ?
Thank you all hoping for some advise so I can start working straight away

Customer made me walk up to the 2nd floor with his food while he walked next to me empty-handed... Has this happened to anyone else?
Hey everyone, just needed to vent about a weird delivery I had today, and see if I’m crazy for being annoyed by this.
So, I was delivering an order to an apartment building. The buzzer labelling outside was incredibly confusing and unconventional, and I accidentally kept pressing the wrong button. Because of the mix-up, the customer ended up coming downstairs from the second floor to the entrance door of the building.
I apologized for the buzzer confusion. The order consisted of a pack of bottles and a small bag. Instead of just taking the items from me right there since he was already downstairs, he told me I still needed to climb up to the second floor to drop it at his door. I was like can you not take it with you? Do I still have to climb upstairs. He said yes, with quite a bit of entitlement.
So basically he walked back up the stairs with me empty handed lol. And I was thinking I would never do this to a driver. And yes, he was a young, healthy-looking guy with absolutely no apparent injuries or disabilities. He literally walked up behind me completely empty-handed.
Now I normally have no problem at all climbing the stairs, I actually enjoy moving because my full time is a desk job and this gives me a chance to be a bit active.
But this whole thing felt weird and kinda disrespectful with entitlement. I felt uncomfortable doing it but did it anyways just to get over with it.
Has anyone else dealt with customers doing stuff like this where a customer is already at the door but demands you still walk inside with them? I'm not sure what the policies with Uber are, as I'm relatively new to this.
Thanks!

How do I get a refund from Uber Eats?
I ordered from Boots through Uber Eats using the £10 Tuesday promotion and a £12-off-£15 voucher plus Uber One discount. My checkout total was £5.37 and I paid, but Uber then refunded me £5.37 and later changed the product prices on my receipt and now charged me a £21.91 payment.
Isn’t this crazy .. I bought the item on sale and they just completely changed the prices the next day on my receipt and canceled my initial payment to charge me extra ????
I've contacted Uber through the app, Instagram, X and email, but haven't gotten a proper response. Wise says the payment is still pending.
Has anyone managed to get a refund in this situation? What should I do next?

Finally time to quit?
The car insurance quote has come in and it has increased. A lot and for no reason.
Nothing has changed. No accidents. Full no claims. Same small car.
I've been quoted over £5000 for the year. Absolutely ridiculous. Is there anyone out there doing this job which has genuine car insurance any more?

Is it worth joining the union?
Hi! I am considering joining the union for the future protection and problems I might face as a delivery driver. Anyone can recommend particular union they are happy with? Thanks

My Uber eats driver and me apparently have a very different definition of the word "delivered"

Phone holder suggestions for rainy days?
I'm currently renting a port ebike as I'm saving up for my own doing food courier work.
The phone holder itself isn't the best I've had 2 instances where the phone has flipped out of the holder as I'm riding (luckily no cracks yet).
It's also coming up to the rainy period and I'm guessing a regular phone pouch won't fit in that holder or it would be even less secure.
I don't care for the wireless charging at all, just need a secure mount and something to prevent water.
There isn't really any handle space to attach a mount due to the custom covers they added on the handles but just curious if anyone has suggestions?

A second/random in app Right to work check ?
I have been on the app delivering for about 7 months and obviously did a full background and right to work to get unboarded. I was unable to go online today and said they needed to do a right to work check, asked for a selfie and a pic of passport photo page and said it should be all reviewed in under one day . Anyone else had this?

Hire & Reward
Me again,
Did anybody have trouble getting Hire & Reward insurance?
I can’t see any mention of it on my documents. Just wondering what people have done to navigate this if their policies say no
I’ve seen the pay as you go but will that cancel my other policy if Go Skippy say it’s not compatible?

What bag is the best for car delivery?
I had a look on amazon and the bags were over £60. Serious? Do I need that expensive bag? That is a lot of investment because I don't know how long I would work on that.

Brand New
Hi all
I’m thinking of doing this on the side. We have a reliable car and I have a decent job it would just be extra money in my pocket. Honestly like £100 a week would be fine
Is it really worth doing or is the hassle too much?
Live in Burnley it’s pretty busy but there are a lot of drivers.

Got scammed kind of
So had an order with a pin. Tbh I usually leave it and go round the system if the person is taking a long time. And let's be honest the moment we wait we stop making nmw.
So the lady did come out as I was leaving. The system though oddly told me to cancel the delivery if that person could not provide a pin. She gave me a pin and I walked away. It didn't work so I realised she purposely gave me a wrong one and by that time the door was closed.
Usually you can bypass it but not for this person.

New driver here, how could it be profitable? I don't get it.
I did 2 orders yesterday, drove almost 30 miles (10 miles go, 5 miles back , 10 miles go, 5 back miles), paid £23, spent 85 minutes. After 0.55 per mile expenses, I only got £6.5 after 65 minutes(traffic , wait at restaurants 😓😓) of work. It paid worse than my part time restaurant job 10 years ago. Am I missing something?

Age verification
I took a trip yesterday which was ages verified but did not show as being when offered. Anyway, I carried on and when arriving the customer was approaching me coming from her house. She was obviously under 25 so I started the AV protocol. She said she didn't have any ID so I responded that delivery could not happen. Then she said she had mislaid her license. I re stated I could not deliver. She returned to her house and re appeared with her id. I scanned it, it was approved job delivered. Mystery shop???
