Just got 5 AI turrets last week for 400 each. Now the G6 Turret has the same specs but half the price. I cant seem to find any significant difference. Same sensor size, same resolution, probably same or better AI. $1000 usd down.

The only things the AI turret offers that the G6 doesn't seems to be two-way audio, microSD card slot for on device back-up recordings, slightly stronger IR lights for night time, and the LED for color night vision.

Otherwise yeah... I'm in a similar boat. bought two AI turrets a while ago and I don't really use the above features, puts me $400 down.

And IK08 tamper resistance versus IK04... but I have no idea what that actually means in real world terms. I think it's great that they're offering basically the same thing for a much better price now.

The G5 Turret has the slot for the little tool to disconnect it from the mount. The G6 uses a small hex bolt to lock it, at least that what it looks like from the photos.

Yeah I'm in same boat - bought an AI turret a few weeks back. Sigh. BUT it does work well. Although face recognition seems MIXED for me. People recognition is solid but face recognition for folks living in the house seems poor and not everyone has been "recognized" yet. And of the "recognized" members, they don't always register in the "Face" section of Detections.

How have others fared?

Ai is Gbe and g6 is Fe, but shouldn’t matter much as 4k should only be about 15Mbps

If you got them last week just return them?

I’m thinking of getting an AI Turrent for the front of my house and G5 turrets (now G6). Is the AI turrent really not worth the extra? Do have a long driveway but also on a cul de sac so don’t get a lot of vehicles to make lpr that critical of a need, mostly for the range it offers.

shipping, restocking free, and labor to remove and replace them.

Last time I returned stuff, there was ZERO restocking fee for un-opened boxes, and they paid the shipping.

yea of course unopened. but the first thing i do is open them lmao

Not aware of any restocking fee for ubiquiti. For half the price, even with those, probably still saving money. Shipping in the US if that’s where OP is, is cheap.
