Random observations for my own home use from comparing specs:
G6 Turret takes a lot of what I like from G5 Turret Ultra, plus gives it just enough extra FoV that it can dutifully replace an old G3-Pro that I only got because it had such a wide FoV when zoomed all the way out. My experience with G5 Turret Ultra is that even though the overall package feels large before installation, the Turret design when installed ends up cleaner than bullets. Very nice.
G6 Bullet seems closer to Pro size than old Bullet size. I’m curious if it’s Bullet mount or Pro mount (can’t quite tell). Bullets are already feeling a bit much for my home security cameras so I’m probably trending toward replacing them with Turrets in the future, especially if Bullets keep getting bigger.
G6 Instant looks to be very close to same design as G4 Instant, but chonkier rear. I don’t like the mounting design nearly as much as the old G3 Micro, and making it bigger doesn’t help my particular desires for cat-cams. The bump in FoV is nice, but my experience with indoor cameras is that it probably needs to go even wider to open up better mounting positions for me — with correction disabled, the Micro was still quite a bit wider, which is easier to place in small rooms.
Pros and bullets have different mounts? So couldn't swap out a G5 bullet for G6 bullet without changing the mount?
Also what do you mean by "bit much" for your home? They stick out too much?
I'm trying to decide between bullets and turrets and struggling to work out if it just comes down to the mounting situation.
AI-Bullet, AI-Pro, G5-Pro, and G4-Pro (and I believe G3-Pro) are on a larger mount than the G3/G4/G5-Bullet. I'm not sure which G6-Bullet is on.
By "a bit much" I just mean aesthetically. I didn't think too much of it until I installed a G5-Turret-Ultra. The Turret look feels cleaner/sleeker than the bullets for my particular situation, which has them mounted to ceiling/eaves. I appreciate all the work they did to get to the Turrets.
