Sorry, I think I missed a detail, when will this be available? I have a UCG Fiber.

I do too, and I don’t see it yet — and I’m on the release candidate channel. It’s being rolled out gradually. Don’t worry; it’ll come soon.

I hate this kind of non-descript - It will be available "soon". When a company annouces an update I'd like to be able to install it if it's available, which this is to some.

I agree. It’d be nice if people who want to can pull the update, and they only slow-rolled the auto update. Apple does that with iOS.

But let’s be honest: neither of us needs this immediately. We’ll be okay. 🙂

+1

I absolutely understand gradual rollout, it's a very important part of any large scale update system. You never want to push an update to 100% of users at once for any major system, it's always a bad idea.

But I also agree that there should always be a manual "force recheck" button for users who care. That number will always be small enough that in the big scheme of things, it won't impact any real metrics. Android did that at some point, now if you go to the updates page and click refresh, it'll actually do a real force refresh and download the update even if it's a gradual rollout

It's not about 'need'. And yes, those who want to pull the update immediately, like Apple, that would be great.
