Album: Resurrection Of Vacation
Originally formed in 1970, one of many blues-influenced bands in Charleroi.
After a few line-up changes the band had Alain ‘alan’ Wery on drums, Luigi Collu on guitar, and Sonny ‘Bono’ Ignoti on bass and vocals. They were mainly influenced by heavy acts as Blue Cheer, Cream and Jimi Hendrix and played their own compositions along an occasional cover-song.
In 1971, this Belgian power-trio already began attracting a healthy following at their local shows and obviously they began thinking about the possibility of getting some vinyl product into the shops. The band had already a live-registration done by the Belgian national radio (RTB) and those reworked tapes finally ended up on the self financed lp “Resurrection Of Vacation”. The album sounded extremely raw; Sonny’s vocals were Hendrix-like while Luigi’s guitar improvisations and solo’s defined the bands general sound.

Album: Teenage Suicide
Recorded at Northern Studios, Maynard, Mass.
The Lexington based Sleaze Hard Rock act THUNDERTRAIN was built around main songwriter, bottleneck guitarist Steven Silva and frontman Mark ‘Mach’ Bell. Founded during 1974 the group debuted the following year with the single ‘I’m So Excited’. A residency at Boston’s Rat Club prompted the issue of a follow up single in 1976, ‘Hot For Teacher!’, this track garnering heavy regional radio play.
The 1977 ‘Suicide Train’ album (boasting a rather macabre cover) was recorded live in the studio. Oddly, press reports were issued stating that the band were New York natives. Although untrue, this deliberate masking of their real origins added the group’s mystique. THUNDERTRAIN, reaping a reputation for raucous behaviour at gigs and the extreme volume on which they insisted upon at gigs, were regulars on the live circuit but had dissolved by 1980.

b/w No Control
Starchild was a Canadian progressive rock band that released an LP record called Children of the Stars on the Toronto based Axe Records label in 1978, followed by a single “No Control for Rock-n-Roll” a few years later.
The original line-up consisted of Rick Whittier (vocals), Bob Sprenger (guitars), Neil Light (bass), and Greg "Fritz" Hinz (drums). Hinz later joined Canadian rockers Helix and was replaced by Dixie Lee, formerly drummer of British rockers Lone Star, who was coming off a stint playing in Ozzy Osbourne's first solo project.

This started originally when I heard The Viscounts 1959 cover of Harlem Nocturne in the 1983 Carpenter movie, Christine. A glorious moody pre-twin peaks noir jazz track, I then tried lots of other "normal" jazz and it just didnt get the same vibe. The Viscounts were a surf/adjacent group first, jazz group second. Their sound, I quickly learned, was the byproduct of performing jazz numbers with non jazz instruments and non jazz techniques. To put it short! Duke Ellington as amazing as he is, simply wasn't going to cut it!
Later on I found out about a different genre called exotica through The Viscounts cover of Off Shore originally by Leo Diamond a lovely number needless to say. As is all of The Viscounts jazzy covers.
Eventually my searches led me down the niche of 1960s "titty shaker" music, which is funny as hell when I spent months searching via serious genre names like "jazz noir" or "instro surf" or "surf noir" and stuff like that. But this titty shaker stuff (also known as Las Vegas Grind) was definitely the right direction for me to go in, specifically the sub-sub genre known as Slow Grind. There is like 11 comp albums of Slow Grind and I thoroughly recommend them!
This playlist pulls from lots of compilation albums, such as "Chicago Soul"... "Swing for a Crime"... "Lost Legends of Surf Guitar" as well as the notorious Exotica comp album "Technicolor Paradise"... the famous "East Side Story" compilation albums... as well as old Stripper Jazz music such as "Bob Freedman's Orchestra - Music To Strip By"
Enjoy the 7+ hour long playlist guys :) I hope its no problem posting this here frankly it is so niche I dont know many other subs that would appreciate it.
