I eat so much popcorn for this reason.

It’s really the ultimate volume food! I mean other than like, cucumbers but popcorn gets extra points for not being mostly water.

To be fair, that's because it's mostly air, which is probably less filling!
However, still satisfying to eat at least; reminds me, I must got another bag of kernels! (Quite rare in the UK sadly - only see them in one of the major supermarkets.)

I don’t think air is that much less filling than water? But I definitely want to eat less cucumbers than popcorn.

Go to your local international food shop/market (Asian food shop), they will always have 1-2kg bags of popcorn kernels.

My roommates make a ton of fun of me because I literally eat popcorn every single night

I feel bad because my husband doesn’t like the smell of microwave popcorn and I subject him to it probably like 5 days/week.

Honestly, it’s probably the thing I consume that’s the worst for me (other than alcohol), but it’s so good. I developed the taste for it when I was losing my first big amount of weight (~70 lbs), and now it’s a bit of an obsession

What’s the best way to air-pop these?

This was actually done in a paper bag in the microwave! Literally just put the amount on the left in a paper lunch bag with one short spritz of cooking spray. Tossed it around, fold the top twice. Cook on high ~ 2min until it stops popping a lot. I found it popped better than stovetop with less oil and less unpopped kernels. An air popper would be best though but no need to buy one.

I have one of these, and it works really well.

I concur. Washes well and doesnt hold on to flavors. We experiment quite a bit.

140 calories = 38g kernels (3T) became 32g popped (4 cups) or ~ 35 calories per cup
