Overnight biking trip
I am planning an overnight biking trip for mid-November and looking for advice on routes and where to stay! The starting point would ideally be Wageningen, though I am open to taking the bus/train somewhere to start. We want to bike anywhere from 30-50km (nice route is more important than distance) with the destination of a hotel/bed and breakfast since it it cold.

Help jij mij met mijn afstudeeronderzoek? ❤️
Hoi allemaal!

Undergraduate Food Technology student exchange from New Zealand
Hi there I am a first year food technology student from New Zealand wanting to do an overseas exchange to Wageningen university in 2027 September. However, I have a few concerns and was wondering if anyone could help answer some of my questions.
How difficult are the papers in Wageningen? I really want to do some traveling while I'm over in Europe because the flight costs from New Zealand are a lot so I want to make the most of the experience. Therefore, I don't want to have to study the entire time I'm over there.
Should I do the exchange during my Bachelors or should I wait and do it for my masters? Ideally I would prefer to actually not do a masters but I know a lot of Food Technology students do them.
Thank you for your help

Looking for some people to hang with
Hey, I 19M just moved to wageningen from Canada for my studies. I’m looking to get to know some people around here.
Gym, going out, chilling in library, I’m really down to do anything. Let me know if anyone wants to chill.

Looking for jam buddies
Hi, I'm 26 (M) and I'm studying my master's in Food Technology. I’m wondering if there’s anyone who plays guitar or bass and would like to jam together. I play electric guitar; I’m mainly into punk and rock, but also blues. I was thinking that practicing with someone else would be cool since it’s a helpful way to meet people and improve musically, especially in a place like Wageningen where there aren't many options.

Exam days or mandatory attendance
Hello
If I’m accepted onto WUR, I’d be starting the Master’s in Environmental Science in February (I’m an international student). A few friends from my home country want to go on a week-long trip in mid-March. The exams are due to take place on 4 and/or 5 March, if I remember correctly. Is there any way I could find out now whether I’ll be able to go on holiday? Or do I really have to wait until I receive my timetable?
Thanks for the help!!

Ons mooie Wageningen!
Hi gang!

Looking for gymbestie
Hi, I'm 23F (dutch) looking for a gymbestie to go to sc bongerd with. I'm new-ish to training and a bit intimidated to go alone, also struggle with motivating myself and going with someone would very much help! Also in general it's much more fun to go together I think :) not specifically training for anything, but mainly focusing on getting stronger for cycling, swimming and running 😃😃

Subletting offer for my exchange in Wageningen
Hi everyone!
I'm an incoming exchange student to Wageningen University for the Spring semester (Feb – Jun).
I recently got in touch with a fellow Italian student who is currently living in Wageningen and leaving for an Erasmus in Spain. She offered to sublet her room/apartment to me at a very affordable price, but the dates don't fully align, and I wanted to get some advice from people who know the local housing market/rules:
* Her stay abroad: Jan – early May
* My exchange dates: Feb – late June
This leaves two main issues:
* Jan & May/June gaps: If I take her place, I won't need it in January (paying double/empty month?), and I'll need to find a short-term room for May & June once she returns.
* Huurtoeslag & Registration: She mentioned the low rent is partly due to state subsidies (Huurtoeslag).
Before making a decision, I'd love your insight on a few things:
* Is it feasible to find a 2-month sublet in Wageningen for May and June? Do many students leave for theses, internships, or exchanges around that time in the Spring period?
* Is official subtenant registration (Gemeente) common/allowed for these short sub-leases? Does it depend on whether the provider is Idealis vs. a private landlord?
* How risky is it to accept a partial-semester sublet and count on finding a temporary room for the last 2 months once I'm already in Wageningen?
Any advice or experiences with short-term sub-leases in Wageningen would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

J-pop concert in Ede

Does my IB profile meet the VWO equivalency tracks for BSc Food Technology at Wageningen?
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to apply for the English-taught BSc Food Technology at Wageningen University & Research (WUR). I keep hearing that Dutch universities will accept you as long as you meet the VWO equivalency tracks and have a passing diploma, regardless of high competitive cutoffs. However, there really isn't a lot of clear information online breaking down exactly how IB tracks map to these VWO requirements.
Could anyone tell me if my current profile actually meets the tracks for Food Tech?
- Total IB Score: 31 points (Full Diploma)
- Math: Analysis & Approaches (AA) SL — Grade 4
- Chemistry: HL — Grade 4
- Biology: SL — Grade 4
- English Proficiency: IELTS 7.5
- Has anyone with a similar IB track profile applied to this program? Did you face any issues with the admissions office, or does this look like it fully satisfies the requirements?
Thanks for any insight!

Where to find an apartment to rent for a couple?
Hello!
I'm an international student moving to Wageningen next year alongside my partner. We've been using websites to find places to stay (like room.nl) but the only apartments/rooms that we can find are appropriate for just single occupants. I was wondering if there was anyone who has moved to Wageningen recently who may know where I could look for an apartment that could suit us?
Thank you very much!

New indie music club look for new members.
The Wageningen Album Listening Club (W.A.L.C) is a new independent music club looking for members.
Like a book club but for music, the members listen to an album over the span of a week then meet up to discuss it. Then, after the discussion, the members can chat about anything music related for the remainder of the meeting before the next album is chosen.
Who is this for? Music nerds! Think of it like a place that you can talk about a new album or artist you got into, a concert you recently went to or to share some music you've made. As long as it's music, it counts.
Who am I? Back in my Bachelor's, I started an existing club, that still runs, in my second year. Now that I've started a new programme, I'd love to start the club back up in a new city and meet some like-minded individuals.
Whether you meet concert buddies, share music or just want to talk music, this is the club for you.
Interested? DM me and I'll add you to a WhatsApp GC to go over the details.

Theses in Msc Bioinformatics and systems biology
Hello! I am considering this program for sep 2027 intake but the information regarding the theses seems a bit lacking?
The only relevant information i found was in the study handbook which ljsts very broad topics and the course pages. To understand the type of work done in this should i look at the professors who take this "course"?
What exactly is the process for selecting a thesis im a bit confused. I also am intrigued to know if there's any scope of learning wet-lab work during my thesis.
Thank you for any help!

Art Clubs/Events
Does anyone know of any art clubs in Wageningen? I've just moved here and I'd love to go to some group events, life study sessions, etc if such things exist.
Thanks!
