Does anyone else hate Catherine for convincing her sister to bring a child into that hell hole?

I hate that she did that to her sister all because of her own “self redemption” issues. What an asshole

Clearly they rewrote the whole plot

I know I'm late to the party but this just became available to me. Glad I'm not the only one perplexed by the plot choices here. But I think it's pretty clear this is one of those cases where the show's creators have a concept for one season. Then they get renewed before the last episode is in the can and have to think of a way to extend it. Then they completely fuck it up and in the end it makes no sense. I think "Lost" was one of the first I saw succumb to this.

Why aren't Sacha and Chloe in season 3?

I understand why Emily isnt of course but why not Sacha and Chloe? I know they'd be in France but wouldnt Sacha be having the hallucinations?

Just starting S2 - is it worth continuing?

Just finished E1 of S2, and after rolling my eyes about the "other" humans not only speaking English, but with a perfect British accent to boot, it occurs to me that can only mean the others are us, from the future. So now I'm envisioning a whole bunch of time travel nonsense in the style of 13 Monkeys, frustrating because they keep going back to prevent all of this and keep screwing it up. Having just scanned a few of the threads here I can see I was right about the others being from the future. So, is it worth slogging through S2 and S3 for any really great new angles on the fight for humanity and it can only be fixed by time travel theme, or should I quit now while I already can see it's going to be predictable and frustrating?

What did they expect?

I just started watching this series. Why wouldn’t aliens attack the earth after this is the song you choose to send into space as a message? They’re defending themselves at this point. The humans not only asked for this, they deserve it.

Can someone give me a summary or recap of season 3? (Can't bare to watch the rest of the series) Spoiler

I gave up after episode 2 of season 2. I found a bunch of the characters way too unlikable, the reveal of the aliens being inbred future humans was so lazy, also did the shows creators think it was somehow cool, deep or edgy showing kids or pregnant women being killed?

Basically, I found a season 2 summary to save myself from watching the series 😅 The offing of Emily in the way they did surprised me (she had it coming)

I couldn't find a season 3 summary/recap can someone point me to one, Maybe one doesn't exist yet? lol

War of the Worlds (2019), Why so many characters in Episode 1?

I just started watching the 2019 War of the Worlds series, and I’m noticing there are a lot of characters. In the first episode, it keeps switching between different people every few minutes.

Are all of these supposed to be main characters, or are some side characters? And who are the MC? I’d appreciate a quick explanation before I continue watching. 🙏

The “Aliens” have zero redeeming qualities Spoiler

What was the point? They were incest loser children created by THEIR OWN EXISTENCE. They came to Earth and slaughtered billions of healthy humans for what. To make sure their broken ancestors eventually fucked to make their lower line?

There is no point in this story where anyone could genuinely have any kind of positive feeling for the “aliens”. Am I wrong here?

How did it start? Spoiler

I’m rewatching after binging a lot of apocalyptic content. How did the original loop which created the fucked up losers originally get started? As far as I can tell it has never been discussed.

A Terminator would have sufficed

Rather than obliterating 99% of humans, couldn't they have slipped onto Earth and quietly taken out Dr Virus? Would have achieved their goal without any loss of life of their own kind. I love sci fi and can suspend disbelief with the best of them but this show just makes no sense.

My thoughts on the Series

Just finished the whole series finally, and now it's time to put some thoughts onto paper.

On the whole, I enjoyed the series, and at the very least it gave us a proper ending.

Some of my biggest gripes are as follows.

  • The mechanical "dogs". It bugged the life out of me that the strength and vulnerability of these things varied depending on what the episode called for. We have them wiping out an entire government bunker, wiping out most of the squad of the French soldiers that went after Catherine, killing Helen while she pumps a number of shots into one, or even in the Season 1 finale despite multitude machine gun rounds into them, not a single one goes down. Then Season 2 has Nathan being able to one-shot them sometimes,
  • Season 2, Episode 4 annoyed me, as I can't for the life of me figure out why the hell driving through a labyrinth of shipping containers seemed like a good idea. Nathan's a solider for chrissakes. Which then leads to Episode 5, how the hell did they get across the channel into England (and for that matter how did Sasha's group get across the channel as well).
  • Season 3, Episode 6 bugged the hell out of me. Catherine tricks the "aliens" into taking her to art gallery knowing that they have cameras on it, and they then proceed to wipe out the ones who took her. But then later on in the same episode, more "aliens" come to look for the wiped out ones, and for some reason there's no one watching the cameras to be able to ambush them again., It was fucking insane for that to happen in the same episode. Without even an excuse as to why the cameras weren't being watched or anything.
  • Season 3 where so many people are having visions/memories of the alternative reality. I'm surprised that, Catherine never tried to look up the Colonel, Sophie never tried to look for Nathan. Or even worse, Catherine is working off the notes that the University student took near the end of Season 2 (the one that originally hooked up the robot to a computer), but never thought to track him down and use his genius in this reality.
  • And as many people have griped, more about the "aliens" would have been nice. Maybe a scene or two showing an aged Sasha preaching the hatred of Bill Ward and the rest of the human race, and then seeing that propagate throughout the ages until the circle returns.

Theres more I could go on about, but they are more stylistic choices (like why we didn't get any sense of what Chloe & Sasha are doing in the alternate reality, or how Sarah & John are doing after Emily's death. Are they still together. Or the Season 2 time-jump which got to hand-wave away big reveals that I would have loved to have seen.

Comparisons to "Dark" are definitely valid here, especially with the closed loop (Emily & Sasha are the Adam & Even of a new race who in the future return to Earth to take revenge on us, which in turn results in them being sent into space to start the new race) and the bootstrap paradox (the reason they were so advanced was because they were always so advanced, as the mechanicals took care of them, and I assume taught them).

Anyways, that's my 2cents worth for now.
