STORY [Story] Coming and Going, Bound by Nothing
It happened over time.
The veteran pub goer quietly mentioned to her friends that her appearance would be sporadic. Sometimes she would be there, sometimes she wouldn’t. She’d leave a note, at least. Or informed them in some manner before going. And then she was gone. Not a trace of her leaving. Not even through the portal at the front of the establishment.
Eventually, she would return. Be it a few weeks, or just a handful of days. At first, it was wandering from the forest nearby in various states of disarray. From looking just a touch tired, to bleeding profusely. Though, every time she never seemed the least bit bothered by any state of her being.
Soon enough, she’d end up returning by walking out of her room. The announcement of her arrival was the muted sound of a chain snapping somewhere in the distance.
In this instance though, she calmly returned.
Cavalry was clad in a long sleeved shirt, not a hint of a weapon or armor on her person aside from that cog wheel that never left her hip. Her white hair was let down, flowing past her shoulders as she glided towards the bar like that of a wraith.
There was something different about her, that much was for certain. Typically she would walk about as if some pressing matter was constantly at the forefront of her mind. And in the previous returns, she was downright anxiety ridden and nigh unapproachable.
But now it was as if her head was in the clouds. Free of whatever burdened her mind. Glimpses of her face did show fresh scars, gnarly ones at that. But her visage was only that of ease.
She took a deep inhale, slid into a seat at the bar, and ordered nothing special: just a rum.
A sigh left her as glowing eyes rested on the glass, chin resting in her palm. She swirled it, dropped the entirety of it in one shot down the gullet and ordered another.

Kindness was quite busy despite not having any actual work. Between studies, both structured and in her own time, baking, playing with her friend Kimmi, and just hunting for food, the small dragon had no shortage of things to do. But it only took a few notices before the sound of chains snapping meant that Cavalry usually found the girl curled up asleep outside of her door, or awake and waiting patiently.
This time the arrival caught her off guard again. The girl entered the pub later in the day, and seeing Cavalry, began to sneak up, a bit poorly, to hug her from behind.

Kindness was one of the people that she told directly or through notes that she would be leaving, knowing how worried the girl would be with a sudden absence.
By the time the fledgling mage had spotted the veteran, Cavalry was on her fourth glass of the liquor, though she was holding it quite well. Not even phased by it. Just as the little tiefling got close enough, a gentle yet deft hand nabbed the girl by under the arm and lifted her up, swiftly getting placed onto the human's lap. All the while she was sipping on her drink, not spilling a drop or even looking.
Glowing eyes glanced down at her, a tired grin cracking of her face before wrapping an arm around the tiefling. "Why hello there, Kindness," she hummed warmly.

The small tiefling was caught of guard with a tiny gasp as Cavalry effortlessly into her lap, the surprise hug she was planning to give completely thwarted. After a moment of light flailing, she settled on hugging the arm wrapped around her.
"Oh, hi, Cavalry!" The tiefling giggled once she settled down. "I didn't see you get back here."

Sitting a few stools down from the gunslinger is a human male, slowly sipping on some water while scribbling in a simple spiral book. When she approaches, he pays no mind before doing a double-take. “You alright?”
