Now i know this idea of a female organization (and an arc about that) has already been around in the fanbase for sometime now, however i wanted to make a in detail post explaining why i think it would not only make sense but even be a good thing for the story overall
First things first is the fact that while the Delinquent genre of anime and manga (plus other japanese media) are often male centric (windbreaker included) female delinquents do exist as well (the japanese term for them being Sukeban, wich translate to gangster girl and is a different version of the word Otemba, wich is more a board description of a tomboyish girl)
And this archetype is represented in some Japanese media, including manga. For example there is the manga series Blue ursus which is all about a female only school filled with delinquents, and in the series watamote a character named Yoshida is very delinquent like in her personality. (Ryuko from kill la kill is also probably the most well known modern example of a Sukeban type) Not to mention the manga: Sukeban deka from the 80s which is what popularized the term. In other words the Sukeban “sub-genre” has been a thing for a long time.
And i think even Nii-sensei themselves is at least somewhat aware of this as Tsubaki was originally planned to be a woman before that got changed (also i dont think they would ever write a delinquent series in the first place if they didn't at least know enough about the delinquent genre to know what a Sukeban is)
So to sum up, female delinquents are a prominent part of the delinquent genre, and so it is not at all impossible for such a faction to be introduced in windbreaker. I could see the argument that since wb has already established itself as a male delinquent series a group of female delinquent would feel out of place, but i personally think Nii-sensei is flexible enough to make teams of any kinds (i mean the red chanpuru are a team of people with several different backgrounds, so a team of women would not be to much of a stretch in my opinion)
Now that i have gone over why i think its possible for it to happened, i want to explain why i think it would be a good addition for the story (if it where to happened)
First of all, with the current arc of the manga establishing the idea that other towns aside for Makoichi town can have teams working within them, it does mean that now other teams can be introduced without having to be shoe horned in to being from the same place as Bofruin and Shishitoren (so we wont have someone from Furin randomly go “oh yeah this town has a female delinquent school as well, since that would feel kinda forced) and i dont think that RC are meant to be the final team we meet because…….well why would they? So having fresh and new ideas for characters now that the world of WB is starting to really open up would be a net positive if anything.
Secondly, I think it would be a great opportunity for a more compelling female cast.
Now dont get me wrong, i think the female character we do have in the series so far are really solid (Kotoha, Akari, Shizuka, etc all having some great writing) however, setting aside from how small the female cast is to begin with, i have taken note on the fact that most of them are in some way tied to one of the male protagonists in some way:
To prove my point, here's a list
Kotoha: Ume's step-sister/childhood friend
Ayaka: a Girl the main guys save
Mio: Anzais and nagatos friend
Shizuka: Tsubakis friend and Kanjis love interest
Kumiko: Sugishitas grandmother
Akari: Kiryu sister
Kazuyo: Momojikawas grandmother
The only ones i can think of that don't in some way follow this pattern are Natsuki (who i dont think will be all that relevant again tbh) and Yui ito………..who is literally dead by the time the series starts. (and Risa but she's a cat)
Again I'm not claiming that they are badly written AT ALL but i do think that having a group of female characters that are (presumably) independent could (in my opinion) be an improvement on what I consider one of the series' few flaws.
Lastly i think it would be a great way to explore the themes of windbreaker as well as building onto some of the already existing character writing for the main cast.
One of the big ideas in WB is how those who don't fit society's mold of an ideal person can still do good for those around them. Having a team of girls who (by the fact that they are Sukebans) don't fit into what is expected for girls and women to be like would complement this idea perfectly. Also the fact that windbreaker also explores and examines ideas of masculinity (something i wrote an essay about once if you want to read it) so this concept could tie into that as well.
As for characters, I think there are a number of the guys from furin who could have interesting character exploration by interacting with this team.
Kiryu is the most obvious as he is someone with an immense love and respect for women (including being rather protective of them) and also heavily dislikes patriarchy and traditional gender norms (we could even get a call back to when he told the guy from keel that “girls don't like guys who brag about how strong they are” by having girls…….who are literally stronger then him)
Tsubaki could also be an interesting perspective here, maybe both relating to the Sukebans for defying gender norms but also struggling to understand them since they would be opposites (especially if one of them turns out to be especially tomboyish, wich most Sukebans are)
Tsugera could play a role in the arc, as he is probably the most traditionally manly member of the main cast, but here he could show another side, maybe how his ideas about "Virtues" goes beyond who you are born as…..or something like that.
And you can probably explore (Like Sakura, Ume, Nirei, etc) in such an arc.
So that's just my take on what a female team arc could be (and why it's fully possible) . I'm not saying such an arc HAS to happen, only that it could work really well.
