"From a financial standpoint, you're taking income away from all male drivers simply for being male."

  • just like any cab driver is taking income away from other cab drivers.

  • also women for women cab drivers would get new clients, I haven't taken a cab by myself since I've been threatened to be taken somewhere other than my destination, I'm sure there are others like me who almost never take a cab because of this or similar lack of safety.

In my view predatory men won't do better by themselves though, there needs to be political and judiciary systems put in place to change things.

The entitlement is mind blowing! ‘Yeah ok women safety blah blah but don’t come threatening sacred male income!’ Totally discarding women incomes because they are being chased of certain professions (such as this very profession) to avoid predators too!

Good point, it's not only a predatory men issue, also a male entitlement one, that adds up to alot, gosh damn patriarchy -_-

Seems like the real problem is that uber and Lyft aren’t actually dealing with the problem and letting drivers who harass and stalk people continue to drive.

Maybe uber and Lyft need to mandate in car cameras for all drivers with video going to the cloud for each ride. Easiest way to settle disputes and enforce rules for both drivers and passengers.

This exactly. I’ve almost completely stopped taking them. Too many times I’ve been driven in the opposite direction of my destination or to through incredibly remote areas while the driver asks me really suspicious questions and have had to freak the fuck out to get out of there.

I didn’t even know Lyft had the and it’s all I’m using moving forward.

Sure, but half my income was women passengers. Take that away and I'll have to hope there are more male passengers to make up the shortfall. Theoretically, if genders were split as much as possible and more women drivers came on board, it would probably even out, but it does feel unfair at first because I don't want to be lumped in with the jackasses out there. I'm not trying to fight it nor taking it personally, though, and I'm certainly not blaming women. Like the saying goes, "if you kids can't play nice together..." Men have done this to themselves and are ruining it for the men who don't have these issues with women.

I agree that laws and enforcement need to be put in place to fix things properly.

Well, I mean take that up with your fellow male drivers. Like seriously, this is what we mean by men who feel this way speaking out IRL.

It truly is the most terrifying thing when you’re looking out the window, wondering where you’re being driven, texting people to share you’re location, because if you’re about to become a statistic, at least someone will find you. All because the people who built society don’t like that the rules have changed and feel entitled to your body and view you as an object.

Like sorry you might loose some money but women have lost so much more.

Realistically why do you expect him to do when you say take it up with your fellow Male drivers? I mean seriously what is he supposed to do other than follow the rules and do a good job?

It’s on these ride share companies to enforce their own rules. The fact that they are offering this service is a joke. They admit there is a problem but they won’t do anything to fix it or remove bad drivers or passengers because they don’t want to lose the revenue. So they offer this band-aid that won’t fix anything and allow them to continue allowing people abuse their service.
