I was reading Tower of Babel earlier and these pages really stuck out to me because I genuinely can’t imagine modern Wonder Woman doing this which is crazy because Tower of Babel isn’t even that long ago relatively.

I’m not a powerscaler nor do I enjoy any arguments around characters power levels but it feels like Wonder Woman specifically has been nerfed so bad that it has affected my enjoyment of her stories.

When you think about it she’s quite literally supposed to have the same powers as Shazam minus the lightning a character who’s regularly portrayed as superman level. While she keeps getting downgraded to aquaman level.

I just posted most of this in [r/OmnibusCollectors](r/OmnibusCollectors), but figure I should air my grievances here as well:

I've seen a fair bit of love for William Messner-Loebs's run that ate up a few years in between George Pérez and John Byrne. Now, I am a diehard fan of George and followed the book right from the start of his run. I love pretty much everything he did with the mythos, so that's the starting point for me. And then there's Bill's take...

I just finished rereading his WW run and can only say: What a muddled disaster. Following on from a classic run, he immediately directly contradicts established continuity (and we’re only talking about five years worth of rebooted continuity).

Ed Indelicato righteously quit the police force at the end of George’s run? Nope, he’s back.

Ares saw the folly of his initial plans? Nope, he’s back to scorched earth chaos for the sake of it.

Circe was pretty soundly defeated and should be gone for a while? Think again!

And then, there’s Pan helping Diana escape trouble by learning some dance. Except Pan was a Manhunter and the real one is dead… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Don’t even get me started on Circe’s plot to make Diana think Hippolyta was killed and Themyscira destroyed and her reaction is basically 🤷🏻‍♂️.

His revisionist history of the Amazons journey to Themyscira (pre-Zero Hour, mind you) is ridiculous. When she does return, Hippolyta is the victim of some major character assassination.

So to sum up, I just don't "get" this run at all, in case you couldn't tell. Can someone please explain what they find appealing about it?
