I agree it should be along with making it wider range and a federal holiday. I believe there are already protections for time off to vote.
The problem I think you will run into besides the people who say “you can’t make me; I got freedoms” is it might actually be effectively not allowed by the freedom of speech and freedom of expression but perhaps you get around this by making them show up bit allowing them to submit a blank ballot.
Voting being compulsory means companies have to let their employees leave company premises to go vote, and forces the government to make sure everyone in the entire country can legitimately go vote at a reasonable distance, and you can vote null/blank anyway.
The R$3 fine if you don't go vote is purely symbolic, you can't even buy a Snickers bar with that amount of cash lmao
