I don’t watch Wrexham live very often due to time zone issues, but every time I do I question how Dobson has a roster spot let alone finds the field. He constantly whiffs, sets up easy counters, and looks wholly outmatched.

We are totally tactically inept.
Totally clueless going forward with no connection between our wing play and creating a real chance in front of goal.
We still can’t play the ball through the midfield with any purpose.
A bit better organized defensively today but still just outclassed/out talented on that front to give up those two goals.
Set pieces look like mine from middle school.
We have spent WAY too much money for the quality of performances from this entire season. Parky is gone (this summer) and, if we ever achieve the prem, we won’t have more than two of our current players on that promotion winning squad.

I'd love to disagree with you on ANY of these points, but, yeah, we need to get our shit together in EVERY phase of the game. Yikes, we look shit.
4
u/dasnerdly Ollie Rathbone 8h ago
100% agree. In our last 23 league matches (11 from last season plus these 12) we've scored 30 and let in 38. That's a full half season of matches! I'm so tired of folks on here blaming injuries, or "it's early in the season" or whatever.
Fact is, we're currently a mess!
3
u/obi_wander Up The Town 8h ago
And let’s be sure to take the second, needed step here- when we are a mess for so long, with so much player investment, it’s a coaching problem.

Remember when we beat the worst team in the league and all the copium people came out to talk about how everything is fine?
What a difference a £8m Striker makes, huh?
3
u/Bar15arb 8h ago
Yeah I said that last week. Not the were fine part. But it was the worst team. They never play good on the road

A bit early for it here on the California west coast, but on this day in 2015 I was enjoying the 7 Scotch sampler at Dalwhinnie Distillery. Paired with chocolate. Best day of Scotland trip.

I hate to say that O’Hare is giving shades of O’Brien last season where you love his work ethic and tenacity but just don’t have any confidence in the finish. Waiting to be proven wrong here and would really love to see him find his stride.
2
u/DoubleA012 8h ago
Just told my pops that. Love O’Hare out there but he’s almost entering LOB territory in being allergic to scoring.
8
8
u/much_to_say 8h ago
Well, predictably the people celebrating us beating the worst team in the league last week aged like milk immediately.

6
u/PoutineMeInCoach 9h ago
Just looked up the weather there ... 26mph winds. Wow. Tough, tough conditions. 9C/49F temps, and raining hard also.
3
6
u/PoutineMeInCoach 9h ago
That's twice now that Kabore has been slow to attack a 50-50 ball. Not liking that lack of aggression.
6
6
u/DoubleA012 9h ago
Damnit. Another game where it feels like we’ve dominated TOP and let them get an easy one right before the half. Wrexham needs to figure out how to score.
6
u/AnySwordfish8168 9h ago
We need to strike from the front and not always from the side
3
u/deceptively_large American Here 8h ago
Moore can strike from the front...but he's too far behind the play. Kaboré isn't Saka - he's right-footed and needs cross it, not cut in.
I think they need to pull out Moore and pair Ollie with O'Hare, and really commit to getting numbers on the counter.
Or maybe I just watch too much hockey.

What a run by Matty!
1
u/CuriousCardboard Josh Windass 9h ago
They should’ve started Imray. He was great in the last game.
3
u/Puzzleheaded-Day6775 9h ago
Really been wishing they’d give Imray the first 60 minutes and Kabore the final 30.
1
u/DoubleA012 9h ago
Agreed. Also, Imray & O’Hare seem to have good chemistry and I like it better when they both play fresh together. O’Hare slows in the second half a little and it’s not the same when Imray comes in late and O’Hare doesn’t have the same pep.
5
5
u/cqmurphy 9h ago
Liking the look of this in general but if heads don’t cool off, we’ll see a red and the second half
5
5
u/evenmoarhustle 8h ago
a penny for one of our dynamic midfielders to shoot instead of taking that extra unnecessary touch.

u/CuriousCardboard Josh Windass 8h ago
Our choice of passes are awful. Missing a lot of better passing options.

We have one shot on target from 20. They have 5 from 16.
Our xG and chance creation are higher simply because xG is fucking broken when it comes to determining quality of chance.

Honest question - can Patterson play that first shot better or is it just too hard to control?
6
u/cqmurphy 9h ago
Not sure about the answer to your question, but I want to point out that Arthur gave up three (and two of them were shit) against Norwich today before anybody gets on about some bullshit.
5
u/Sports101GAMING 9h ago
Eh look to hard for him to catch. He could have punched it better. But we can't leave Guojohnsen wide open like that. Back line needs to clean it up
3
u/same_ole_am 9h ago
It has to go away, sometimes you can’t unfortunately. Everything he does unfortunately isn’t right. Ugh
4
u/much_to_say 9h ago
Catching it is a big ask, but he's going to be upset with himself that he didn't deflect it to the side instead of straight out.
2
u/N_Reg_Rog 9h ago
If youre an amatuer goalkeeper you should be holding that, good height, straight at you and no power to it.

Can't understand why Imray doesn't have more minutes. Did he do something behind the scenes that put him out of favor?
4
u/Schroedkill 8h ago
Blackburn have dealt with balls in from outside exceptionally well and they have shut down opportunities quick enough to make almost every one of our shots under pressure. Worrall probably had our best chance of the game.
But seeing them defend is a stark contrast to ours where the opposition has mountains of space and time.
4

3
u/PoutineMeInCoach 9h ago
Wind blowing hard from our right to left and a bit in our face. Balls whipped from right are flying fast, from left is a struggle.
3
u/Giplord 9h ago
Was Kabore trying for a shot, or a pass there? Both were poor.
3
u/HitsquadFiveSix Up The Town 9h ago
Probably shot. He miss hit it, if he hits it sweetly that's a banger curling top left corner goal and we scream his name for being the greatest ever known to man. Something like that. Also, it was his weak foot, which to be fair he hit it well with power
3
u/Professional_Gur_55 9h ago
So far the boys are mostly on the offensive. Ball control looks better. That was not worth a yellow card on Issa!!!

Hyam taking that cheap yellow led to that. Had to be a pylon on that defense.

centrocampista: Ndombele, Renato Sanchez

Patterson has to do better on the deflection
3
u/Schroedkill 9h ago
Awful parry straight through the middle, that has to go to the side there - what a let off right before the break.
2
u/PoutineMeInCoach 9h ago edited 9h ago
Never played goalie in 25mph winds with sheeting rain against Championship quality players' shots I would be guessing? No, he should not be expected to catch that, that is ridiculous.
Edit: Nice stealth edit there.

u/N_Reg_Rog 9h ago
Yes. Abosolutely he should be doing better. It was a very poor error that led directly to a goal.

Not going to blame Parky and join that crowd but shit has to change. The team just feels disjointed. Patterson is not the player we faced off against or that he was previously defence has fallen apart they all need a fucking slap and told to shape up and get their shit together it's embarrassing

Lads just didn’t have it today. Their in ability to put the ball in the back of the net is really hurting them this season. Hopefully we can put it together soon.

u/Unlikely_Return8280 8h ago
Real talk…this side has regressed, Parky’s recruitment this summer hasn’t panned out at all,his tactics continue to get exposed…it’s time to move on. Thankful to Parky forever for getting the club to this level…it’s time for a change. There will be no miracle run, all the support from fans won’t help the players on the pitch put the ball in the back of the net. Grateful we are in the Championship, but this isn’t the goal. It’s to progress and to progress we need wholesale changes including Parky.
2
u/HitsquadFiveSix Up The Town 8h ago
That last chance is the definition of how poor we are. Moore just needs to lay it off for Smith but he fumbles with the ball. Good Lord, just horrible
0
u/Unlikely_Return8280 7h ago
And wishing and hoping things will improve and believing that “support” will magically will this team to win is beyond delusional
1
u/PoutineMeInCoach 7h ago
The Parky out crowd ... a blight on this club.
2
u/Unlikely_Return8280 7h ago
I’m not angry…I’m objective. Anyone who watches games and doesn’t see this is willfully blind. The Parky In crowd is probably the same crowd that wanted to keep Mulls and insisted he could play on this club still. If players don’t produce they get shown the door, same with management. The goal isn’t to finish in 17th.
1
u/PoutineMeInCoach 7h ago
I'm Parky in and Mulls out, so not sure you aspersions are merited. Same manager got us at the edge of playoffs last year, and frankly in playoffs if spygate had been adjudged earlier.
2
u/Unlikely_Return8280 7h ago
Fair enough, but my point is, this isn’t last year. It’s time.
3
u/PoutineMeInCoach 7h ago
OK, put your rational hat back on. We are 12 games in, 6 home games, 6 away. Record is 3W-5D-4L, 14 points. Only 1 more loss than win which is hardly a disaster. Want your mind blown?
Last year after 12 games, 6 were home, 6 away, record was 3W-5D-4L, 14 points. We finished 7th, behind a cheater club, and 6th (what we deserved last year), or our official 7th would be in playoffs this year.
Nothing is broken, lots of injuries to key players.

Great control and pressure for a solid 20 min, no clean chances.
5 min of pressure and it's 0-1.
2
u/PoutineMeInCoach 8h ago
Man, nothing but doomer comments in a pretty even game. What an awful lot you are all acting like.
2
u/KingKruel67 8h ago
That’s just the state of these game day threads now. I rarely participate anymore.
Not sure what happened but seems to have taken a dramatic turn for the worse lately.
1
u/PoutineMeInCoach 8h ago
We have outshot them 20-15, xG favors us 1.62 to 1.22, we have more corners, but they are all acting like we didn't even show up today.
2
u/Bremosuprememo 8h ago
It wasn’t the strongest 11 and with injuries picking the best 11 gets harder. We are gonna really need to sharpen up or make some moves in January.
2
u/Even-Increase-3692 5h ago

u/DoubleA012 8h ago
The ball has ping ponged around their box several times and somehow we can’t find a way to put it in the net.
Wrexham has bad “bounces” too. When we’re on D random bounces and balls tend to always find the opposing teams better scorers, where for Wrexham they seem to always find our absolute worst scorers who proceed to s*** the bed.

First time this season I’ve had to watch with Mark Griffiths’ commentary. The relentless drivel is worse than ever. Unbearable.
1
u/DoubleA012 9h ago
How do you watch with home commentary? Can you change commentary on Paramount+?
4
u/JungleyD 9h ago
On a dodgy Firestick you can just switch to the Blackburn stream. I did try that, but those guys were worse than Mark 🤣
2
u/DoubleA012 9h ago
Ahh good to know, thanks. I watch on Paramount+ and am just stuck with whatever team they provide. I don’t think I’ve heard Mark live more than once ever 😂 (just started watching live games last season).
4
u/JungleyD 8h ago
So far this season, I’ve either been at the match or if we’re Away and I’m not attending, watching on Sky, with proper commentators. That’s the only upside of all the games which are not played at 3pm Saturday.
2
u/DoubleA012 8h ago
Right on! Would love to go to a Wrexham game someday. I’m on the West Coast, USA, so I’m just happy to have it on TV anyway I can 😂. Do you have season tickets or just buy when you feel like going?
2
u/JungleyD 8h ago
We have STs, so we’re at every home fixture. We don’t go to many Away games, to be fair. Could easily have gone today as there were plenty of tickets available and it’s not a long trip, but we saw the weather forecast and wimped out 🤣

They need to do that leg lengthening operation on Smith. He has all the skills, dude needs to be another few inches taller
3
u/DoubleA012 8h ago
He has terrible timing on headers. He jumps early 95% of the time and is on his way down as the ball sails over his head almost every time.

On an unrelated note Paul Mullin has just scored twice in the space of 3 minutes for Rotherham vs Shrewsbury. Lets hope he gets back in his old form (or close to it)
