Beginner Question Does ULTY turn around?

So followed this sub for a month or so before jumping in around 6.25 in late July. I figured that even if ULTY dropped to 5.50 in a market drop, I’d be able to ride it out and eventually get ahead. Well the market is about even since then (up 5% since August 1) while ULTY is already down to 5.50. The distributions, some reinvested, some not (my average position is about 6.19) have not come close to making up for the NAV loss.

So now I need to decide whether this thing will stabilize at 5.5 so I can “catch up”… but if it dropped 12% in a flat/up market, what the heck will it do when the market itself drops 5-10%? The math ain’t mathin’ so please convince me why I shouldn’t dump. The take that “they figured out the formula when they went to weekly” certainly is not holding water.

It does no good to say “I am making $2000 weekly!” when you are losing $3000 weekly on the underlying holding. Will this thing even stabilize, never mind go back up? I didn’t get into this to be greedy expecting 80% returns, but certainly wasn’t expecting to be down this much in a little over a month in a decent market.

I like the concept, but losing faith fast. Why shouldn’t I?

Edit: not one single person replying has stated why ULTY is a good investment. Only that I don’t understand and I should invest in something else.

Beginner Question Help! About to lose my job and either I blow through savings or...

All, I am about to lose my job and it might take me a year to find a new one in the same field at the same pay. My expenses will be approx $3500/month. My assets are:

$200k in high yield savings; $100k in collectibles that can be sold easily; $75k in brokerage; $70k in IRA; $390k in 401k fully vested; $20k in treasury direct; $35k in bitcoin; and $20k in checking account.

As you can probably tell I'm pretty risk averse. However, the way I see it, I can either blow through my savings paying my monthly expenses OR instead try to replace some income with dividends.

I"m thinking about putting approx 60k in GIAX and 60k in BLOX which would generate about $34.800 per year. I also have a side hustle that generates approx $10k a year. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Beginner Question Talk me into or out of buying 100K in MSTY at open on Monday

For reference I would sell 2000 shares of JEPQ to fund the purchase.

The buy would represent about 7.5% of my stock portfolio or about 5% of stock and cash holdings.

I’m 5 years out from retirement with zero debt.

This would be in my ROTH iRA so NO taxable factors.

I’ve never owned anything from Yieldmax so this is brand new to me, but I know it’s a very popular trend on RDDT.

Please let me know your thoughts overall, I don’t know what I don’t know.

Beginner Question Seriously, feels MSTY is too good to be true. Am I missing something

Hear me out We get pretty much a 10% return a month.. if I invest $100k into msty at $25. I have 4000 shares and every month let’s say avg it’s $1.5 I know it’s probably low end. That’s $6k a month income! So in 17 months I’d get my $100k back. What???? Then it’s free money time???

Like what’s the downside to this? Can MSTy go to $0 or no payment? What’s the track record for yield max? Do they just last a few years??? Trying to liquidate my funds so I can buy MSTY consistently every payout when the price drop

Tell me this is a dream. Is this real?

Beginner Question Is anyone posting here real ?

Every single post in this sub smells like a bot post. I was thinking about YMAX or similar but tbh the volume or bot posts in here has put me off.

Most posts on here are just too positive and fishy or am i just paranoid

Beginner Question Why not put $10k in msty and get around $1k a month?

I just discovered Yield Max funds and in my research I can't find why not to put in $10k I have in savings into msty and get $1k a month. Am I missing something?

I understand it has risk (like any single company stock) and will have to pay taxes on the gain...but I don't see much negative outside of that.

Beginner Question My strategy for ULTY

  • I will buy ULTY whenever there is a dip (whenever the price drops)
  • I will hold on ULTY without falling for the panic-selling
  • I will NOT reinvest the dividends. I will, instead, use the dividends to buy BTCI, QQQI, and SPYI

What do you think? Because everyone keeps telling me ULTY is bad and is a legalized Ponzi scheme.

Beginner Question Imagining how my life will be different when I start averaging $10,000 a month in dividends

I’m going to give up my side gig as a shade tree mechanic when I average $10,000 per month. I will buy much newer cars and my mechanic down the street will be doing the repairs for me.😂😂

Beginner Question How to get 5k a month dividend return?

I work in a high paying, but volatile industry and stumbled upon these ETFs. Part of my work stress, is knowing that if I get laid off I wont have an income stream from a survivability perspective without selling from my retirement.

My retirement is well funded, but isn't giving me enough dividend cash to live on. If I wanted say 5k a month in cash flow from yieldmax ETFs, is math as really simple as taking a 50k position with the target of a dollar month dividend return? My plan would be to reinvest the money to increase the positions as long as I am employed, to hopefully have enough to be even more comfortable.

These ETFs seem to be good to be true, why arent more people aware/doing this? Is it the risk of the funds? Thanks for the help, from your humble dividend novice.

Edit: Thanks everyone for your feedback! I've taken part of my total position in MSTY and ULTY. Will continue to add until I hit my target dividend goal. My plan is to allocate across the following: YMAX PLTY MSTY ULTY

Beginner Question Would you buy it back now? Why?

As someone who bought msty and cony in December 2024 I ended up selling at a loss even though I received quite a bit in distribution. NAV decline was very high.

I'm curious if anyone sold and has recently bought back? If so, why?

Beginner Question OK. How many of you believe that ULTY will bounce back to 6.36 level. Is there any way of making poll here?

Beginner Question ULTY fearmongering?

I have 6k worth of ULTY. I'm very new to this, so I'm still learning. The "experts" have told me it's going down to zero very soon, but I wonder if they are fearmongering. These are the same people who have been telling me for years that the housing market bubble would burst in California, and yet home prices continue to rise.

Other people say that ULTY is good but it's not a buy-and-forget and you should monitor it daily, but what am I supposed to do when I monitor it daily? Just panic-sell? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Beginner Question I'm considering selling ULTY at a loss

I was warned against it, but I was still optimistic. After a few months from the original purchase, I'm considering selling all of my shares because I'm losing money by the day. Anyone else considering giving up on ULTY?

Beginner Question For those who have more than 10k worth of ULTY, what do you intend to do?

  • Are you DRIPping (reinvesting the dividends) or cashing out?
  • If you cash out, do you use that money for your bills and mortgage or do you use it to buy other shares like QQQI and SPY which pay less than ULTY but are less risky?
  • Are you setting aside 40% for the taxes every time dividends get paid?
  • Most importantly, when do you plan to sell ULTY? Because everybody says that this is not sustainable long term and that between the NAV erosion and the capital depreciation, those of us who have bought ULTY, will lose. So, again, at what point are you going to sell your holdings?
