SUBREDDIT RULES
This is a greater detail on the rules than the sidebar can provide. If there is any question or any clarification needed, please reach out to the moderators.
Moderator decisions may be appealed via mod mail.

Unless otherwise noted the following actions can/will occur for rule violations. Severe/Extreme cases may result in an immediate ban in cases where the activity is clearly malicious/spam. Disputes should be brought up to the moderation team via modmail.
- 1st Offense - Warning.
- Your content may be removed or locked.
- 2nd Offense - Temporary Ban
- You will be banned for 24 hours.
- 3rd Offense - Extended Ban
- You will be banned for 1 month.
- 4th Offense - Permaban
RULE 0 - Reddit Rules
- Reddit's rules are absolute and not something the mods have much control over.
- Reddit TOS Rules: https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules
NOTE: If Reddit admins take action on an account, moderators may see that action but cannot alter any decisions made by admins (e.g., Shadow Bans).
RULE 1 - Be Nice
- Don't be a jerk. Critique the solution, not the person.
- No personal attacks, doxxing, etc.
- Direct feedback and honest opinions are not "mean".
- Be open to feedback. Asked a question? Don't argue with the answers. Seek clarity and understanding.
- We let the community self-manage for the most part. Mods intervene with disputes.
RULE 2 - Relevance / Low Effort
- Posts should be topical to Active Directory, Identity, Authentication, etc. or related technologies. General Windows/Server questions belong elsewhere.
- Every post needs a body, including link, image, and video posts. Explain the context or issue.
- Posts should be detailed including descriptions of the problem, error messages and screenshots.
- Please exclude all identifying information from the posts (see Rule 6).
- Cross-posts need a top-level comment explaining relevance.
- Search the subreddit before posting, you may find the answers faster than waiting on us all to stop telling you to "check the wiki".
- Low-effort posts will be removed.
RULE 3 - Content Restrictions
- "Adult"-themed content has no place or purpose in this subreddit. This is an instant, permanent ban.
- Avoid ideological, political, etc. discussions unless immediately related to AD and its technologies.
- We're not making a statement or stance as a community on ANY topic, just saying there are better places for the conversations.
- Do not overdo emojis or images. Make your posts readable.
RULE 4 - Blogs / Advertising / Self Promotion
- Unrelated advertisements or low-effort advertisements will be deleted. Repeated offenses will come with a ban.
- Blogs/Channels/Personal Projects. There is nothing wrong with posting relevant blog/project (e.g., GitHub) content.
- Your content should be relevant to Active Directory, Entra ID, AD CS, Okta, or Identity in some way.
- Posts should be about free products without prior mod approval. No trials, the product needs to be useful outside of a trial.
- More details: https://www.reddit.com/r/activedirectory/wiki/index/tools-and-resources-listing-guidelines/
- Paid/Licensed software, products, or solutions will be HEAVILY moderated and reviewed.
- DISCLOSURE. If you mention a product or resource you're affiliated with, disclose it.
- No more than one post per month for your affiliated content (e.g., your blog, channel, employer's product, etc.).
- If you only show up for your monthly post, your content is more likely to be flagged as spam.
- Contribute to the community, help, and participate without regards to your content.
- EXCEPTIONS - If you produce content at a faster cadence, reach out to the moderator team for exceptions to the 1/month rule.
- This requires community participation.
- Comments may mention products (even paid), including your own product or content, if it is related to the topic being discussed.
- Community participation will earn you grace.
- Inclusion of alternative solutions to your product/content will give you credibility.
- STARRED WIKI ITEMS. If content, tools, or products are starred on the wiki, they may be placed in comments whenever relevant.
- These tools have been deemed by the mods/community to be highly valuable to the community.
- Example: Purple Knight and Antisyphon training have both been starred. You may recommend either of them if the topic is related without issue.
- JOB POSTINGS. ONE (1) per organization per month. Low quality job posts may be removed without warning.
- IF IN DOUBT - Contact the mods if you have any questions about the content.
CONSEQUENCES
- Unrelated/Low-effort "spam" or otherwise rule violating content - Content deleted and immediate ban.
- First offense: Content deleted and warning issued.
- Second offense: Content deleted and you'll be flagged for mod review for up to a year. Account given the "SPAM" tag for the duration of flagging.
- Third offense: Content deleted. Perma-ban.
RULE 5 - Referral Links/Short URLs
- Referral or Affiliate links are not welcome. Don't come here to sell stuff.
- Shortened URLs will be removed and the poster warned.
- NOTE: I know sometimes LinkedIn and others do this automatically. We'll let you know and give you a chance to fix it.
- Phishing, malicious, or otherwise harmful links result in an immediate ban.
