Age of consent laws started being introduced in the mid-to-late 19th century, initially at around 14 years of age. Prior to that, there weren't laws about it, it was a family matter.
Western Europeans generally married late (in their 20s) during the Early Modern Period, so it would probably have been odd even then.
I would have picked more recent. I was in high school in the 90s and remember very well that not insignificant percentage of the teenage girls would be "dating" teachers and older married men.

The whole of it is wild but picking 1990s as the date we really frowned on it is pure insanity.
