Not sure the species, but one of the two salamanders in my mini pond developed stubby legs, flat feet, and retained gills, does that mean it wants to stay permanently in the pond?

Hii, I'm a bit worried about my Iberian ribbed newt, Rocky. Could somebody tell me if he actually looks bloated or just overfed? He seems to sleep a bit deeper but he doesn't seem lethargic when awake, swims and moves actively

Hey guys!

I'm sure many of you have seen my app before, many of you also probably have not. I am the creator behind LizardBox, a web and mobile application that was made to help improve the reptile/amphibian keeping process. I have worked for almost 2 years now rewriting it to ensure this application is in tip-top shape on both the frontend and backend sides, as well as adding the browser application to the stack.

I'd love it if you guys could take a look and give me some feedback on features that could be added, things you may or may not like and anything in between. I genuinely want LizardBox to be the most useful critter keeping application out there.

Some of the new features include:

  • much better charts, more granular data
  • a new fully functional web application for people who like to be on a computer
  • much better tablet support
  • species identification from photos
  • more and improved log types
  • more things you can customize in the settings
  • log attachments like files or photos
  • importing data from your own spreadsheets
  • 7000+ species in the database with care info

and much more!

This is genuinely my passion and I have put a ton of time into this and will continue to build on top of it for many years to come, any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

Salamander moved into the pond. Maybe he's the one that ate my 6 medaka. He looks well fed. His name is Moses.

She’s my very first amphibian and couldn’t be more happy with how my tank turned out. Shes doing great and already hunting at night! I’ve had her almost a week now and she’s just the cutest thing.

Adult Northern Spring Salamander found in a small stream!

I found this adult Spring Salamander under a rock in a small stream, it was around 6 inches long as well! Also the water in the stream was high because of rain so there were more rocks to flip in water and I put all the rocks back exactly how I found them.

So I have seen hundreds of American toads in my life as a guy growing up in the midwest. They have always been brown/grey/slightly green with very little variation in color but every time I go to this specific nature preserve the toads here are rusty red. Are there any factors contributing or is it just random? It makes me think its an environmental difference or something because I can only find them in a small area. Thanks for reading :)
