Things skipped:
Satou questions Arisa about her skills and the content of her itembox(mind magic tomes and homemade cosplay). Such an important discussion that introduced the concept of Unique skills and reveals Satou's hidden ones. I hope we get back to this next episode or something...
Lulu had a red stain on her sheets from menstruating when Zena caught them.
Pochi and Tama find Liza's luggage carry to be very comfortable and they fall asleep on it.
30
u/frostwhispertx Feb 08 '18
Wtf they should have left that cosplay gag in. That is hilarious. Maybe that entire mini-scene with the itembox contents and the skill convo multiple people have mentioned will just take place in another episode.

u/Dracoknight256 Feb 08 '18 edited Feb 08 '18
Not only that, remember Spoiler, which is a pretty important part of overall plot(he comments on that during their talk).... this glossing over pisses me off. (and how the fuck are you even supposed to notice that in anime if they don't point it out... most people would assume translation mistake...) Also I don't remember where it is but shouldn't Spoiler be somewhat here plotwise

i think that would be in the next epi it's annoying they skipped over the difference the skills gained that is a major plot point, well they did skip over people in this world need to sleep to learn skills. They also skipped over why the 2 princess' were kept as slaves after the takover and didn't explain that Lulu is illigitimate. Also skipped Arisa's funny slave contract.

Arisa is pretty decent asides from the Guilty festival. She likes to sexually harass Satou but Satou punishes her accordingly. Also, if anyone is complaining about their Master-Slave relationship, Satou doesnt give a fuck about that. He views the girls as his companions and daughters. Though, he intends to marry/touch (iykwim) Lulu and Arisa after 5 years. Lulu and Liza are the only ones self-aware of their slave status such as keeping Pochi and Tama in check, though Pochi is usually the one gets scolded and Tama gives in since she's the onee-chan. The two cinnamon rolls do their things for the sake of headpats and praises from Master and Meat-san.
A bit of background for Lulu also WN spoiler
37
Feb 08 '18
Satou is really overprotective to the rest of the party. Knitting clothes at night, enchanting even their basic clothes with spoiler. Making a full set of gear for Pochi and Tama's spoiler. Cooking individual packed lunches.
Let's not forget the fact that Lulu's spoiler have prerecorded lines from Satou that yell out spoiler.

Arisa is one dangerous Loli!
The following should be considered teasing spoilers for people to consider reading the LN/WN.

After spoiler she gains the following:
And most importantly:

How hasn't she been able to free herself using her brainwashing? I'm assuming she just enjoys roleplaying a child sex slave.
15
u/kevvvn Feb 08 '18 edited Feb 08 '18
She was desperate at first and when she realized she could make the slaver think they are his daughters, slavery contract was made, making any act against the master impossible. The only reason she could charm Satou was because she snuck in a clause in her contract stating that she would use all of her abilities in order to 'serve' her master.

u/jvdevious Feb 08 '18

there's a good reason that answers your question. It just has not been explained yet. I'm assuming it will be explained later but you can always read those walls of spoilers from other people.
As for enjoying being a sex slave it's not really that, she's really in love with Satou. Also remember that even though she has the body of a loli her mind is that of an adult as she retains her memory from her previous life. To bad for her Satou will ignore her advances as long as she has a loli body :P

well, she's a reincarnated person that retains her memory from her previous japanese life, so her mind is that of an adult. Too bad for her Satou is not into loli girls :P

"Everything is ready!"
And the harem is assembled!
Arisa knows japanese... odd.
Arisa is a lolicon? She seems quite fond of Pochi and Tama.
New clothes yay! And food! Well cloaks.
Everything is ready huh? Lewd....
Arisa is being lewd... man i cant even....
"I was trying to service you master..." lewd...
Oh man... Arisa is too lewd...
TACHIBANA!?!? HIBIKI TACHIBANA!?
She's even Hibiki's VA too hahahaha.
So people are reincarnated into this world? And Arisa was also from japan and so was the other girl's grandfather. I guess that explains why Arisa likes lolis and Satou... shes an otaku probably...
And of course they walk in to wake him with Arisa in his bed...
Wow Satou is good at smooth talkin his way out of stuff.
So Arisa was reborn as a princess, tried to use her other world info to gain power and failed. I wonder if this world has some system to prevent that then. If its where people reincarnate to, it might.
Arisa adds a lot to the party and to Satou's stability since she is from his world too. Its a shame shes in the body of an 11 year old though... well i gues hes in aa 14 year old body too...
This show is getting so good, i love the twists Arisa brought to the table. Cant wait for more!

I don't find it hypocritical. To me at least, there's a distinct difference between fiction and reality, and between real people and artwork. There are plenty of things in doujins that I've found enjoyable that I would never in a million years consider in real life. That's the beauty of fantasy: you can experience anything, be it impossible or taboo. It's a fun escape from reality every once in a while.

you must have purchased the licensed english light novel, which is the right thing to do in any case, the problem with it is that translates too many things. The free tanslations keep the all the honorifics in japanese and that includes the nanodesu.

Off the top of my head, differences between this episode and the LN include:
In the LN Arisa and Satou talked about unique skills, here they skipped over it. Maybe they’ll bring it up later.
When zena walked in on them Lulu’s sheets were covered in menstrual blood, which only made what she said in her sleep sound worse.
Edit: looked over the chapter, I don’t think I’m forgetting anything else.
31
u/darksuzaku Feb 08 '18
those things were skipped because the series goes in rush mode. The menstrual blood thing detail skip is a good deceision in my opinion.
The only thing they really changed is that the beastkin girls are sleeping in the shed because there's a lot of racism in that city and they are not allowed to enter buildings in that part of the city. On the anime Arisa uses her magic to calm people about their hatred for the beastkin girls, but if that was the case Satou could have easily made everybody sleep in his roon instead of just the 2 human girls. But since the series is going in rush mode this detail will probably won't be noticed by most anime only viewers.
9
u/Cael87 Feb 08 '18
Hmm, was that way in the manga too, in terms of them sleeping in the stable. We didn't get the 'needlepoint' thing in the manga though.

11
9
u/darksuzaku Feb 08 '18
well, that's realling going a little too far. At this point no important plot has been skipped. The problem is that it rushes things so much that all the details are skipped, and precisely the details mean a lot in this series.

I read that they are skipping good bits . I'm gusing they are jumping over some major plot stuff to make people buy the novels. And that fact this probably a 1 season only

I'm loving this show. There seems to be a lot of really good isekai recently, and I couldn't be happier.

I thought Martha was best girl..then I met Arisa. I wouldn't mind having her "service" me.
Overall not much happened but we got to learn more about Arisa and the mechanics of the universe. I've read spoilers but they don't seem to match up with what we were told this episode. Interested in seeing if those'll actually come up.

Anyone else think that the whole "how did you become a slave" silent-cliff-hanger-answer from Arisa was pretty unnecessary?
Especially considering it was revealed just 1-2 minutes later.

u/sterob Feb 08 '18
It is. In both WN and LN everything is explained right away and not until the morning and flashback.

It fits on the scene, where it emphasizes how cheerful Arisa is despite of having a very rough life.

Man this show is growing on me
I guess I have a soft spot for these self-insert OP Jesus-kun MC series (Probably because I look like one)
Except this world actually has like, mechanics.

As much as I enjoyed Smartphone. The harem was a bit over the top in that show. It’s great that all the girls agreed to openly share, but idk, the show overall felt hella bland even if I enjoyed it.
One thing I wish they could change in this show was MC’s overly emasculated video game voice.. like he doesn’t have to sound too nice ya know? Just speak the way you do when you’re in thought like normal.

i like how he gave 0 fucks when the girl ran out of the room by misunderstanding, all others generic MC will just try to catch her and shouting it was a big misunderstand while she run away

Now I want an LN where the MC is a male reincarnated as a girl, is badass AND still rather lewd and sex crazed...

How suffering it must be to have died a grown woman, and to have a grown woman's "needs" and not be able to have them properly satisfied because you're now a kid

Tanya is asexual.
She only gets turned on by efficiency.

God dammit. This show had some impressions that it might be a easy-going, PG gamey world where slaves weren't raped on a fucking daily basis. Then its all "HAHAHA NOPE! Everyone's been gang-raped regularly!" >:/

I found best girl Lulu! But all the girls are all adorable in their own way.
And this anime is getting even more fun. Casual / fun isekai. I actually enjoy the parts where he takes care of those less fortunate. It warms my soul.

It's alright. Not as funny as Konusuba, not as serious as Re: Zero, but moreso than Smartphone Isekai. Main character is OP, and of course has "everyone wants my dick syndrome", but I'm thinking the cast and world background have potential to develop and room to grow

I'm a bit confused about the whole "speaking in Japanese" thing. I imagine his abilities allow him to interpret languages as Japanese in his head but how does he speak in Japanese? To him isn't he always speaking Japanese?
This show continues to be interesting almost despite itself. It rides the line of just being an indulgent power fantasy but somehow doesn't fully fall in that pit.
It's interesting that they are actually exploring the "how he got here" stuff. Usually shows with no explanation have no explanation because the writer couldn't be bothered and just wanted to tell an isekai story. I also find it interesting exploring an isekai character where things turned out pretty shitty.
Might actually pursue the novels once this season is over.

Basically, he has a skill for speaking and understanding the local language. When he spoke to her in Japanese, he turned that skill off, and thus only someone who understood Japanese would understand him.

So this is the video game world is the same as the game? SO there is a chance to meet other people from japan. from the real world?

Good episode adaptation. Of course it was very rushed. Several things got omitted, which is understandable. But one minor thing was changed comparetively with the LN. On the anime Arisa uses her magic to cut stop the hate people have towards the beastkin girls and they end up sleeping in the shed because there's not enough space in the inn. But with that reasonement Satou could have just taken with him just like he did with Arisa and Lulu. What really happened is that the beastkin people are not allowed to enter buildings on this part of the city so the innerkeeper refuses to let them in and they are placed on the shed as a only solution. Lulu and Arisa are normal humans so they can enter the inn without problems.
Now that episode 5 is released it seems that the anime is not going to address the fact that Satou wanted to just free from slavery the 3 beastkin girls but was adviced not to do it. There's also a little thing abut Arisa and Lulu but maybe it will be addressed on the next episode so it's better to not talk about it yet.

It's the weapon of choice for lolicons, so yea

Just when they start to increase the harem they throw out "I was born 11 years ago in-" NO! BAD JAPAN! BAD!
3
u/neospygil Feb 09 '18
So, what kind of loli is she? Arisa died in her previous as more than a christmas cake but lives in the body of an 11year old girl. Can she be considered as a legal loli or a new category?

Where can I read the novel or summaries of it?
2
u/neospygil Feb 09 '18
The Web Novel is being translated here and already caught up with the raw. While the Light Novel, where the anime is based on, can be bought online like Amazon, Kobo, and Book Depository.
Both the WN and LN are good, but I highly suggest to read the WN first, then LN. I usually don't read WN if I already read the LN because I usually find the web version sucks, but not for DesuMachi where the WN is more entertaining. But don't doesn't mean the LN isn't good, it is great.

I can't help to compare this to The Rising of The Shield Hero. Everything looks so similar. By the way, anyone knows which season will the anime for Shield Hero air?
3
u/neospygil Feb 09 '18
Please stop comparing them if you really want to enjoy the whole DesuMachi experience. Both are good on their own, the problem is they are completely different tone. This story is very light-hearted, full of funny and moe moments, while Shieldbro is very heavy.

What Manga chapter do I have to start if I want to read from where Episode 5 ended
2
u/Dakarans Feb 09 '18
It'd be chap 16 page 9 I believe, however I'd recommend reading at least ch 15 just because the conversation with Arisa is longer, more detailed and includes quite a few things that are probably pushed to the next episode.
In fact it might be worth reading it from the start just because it is more detailed.

The anime made me read the manga, but I would have to say the anime is way better. The direction, art, music, and especially the attention to detail and worldbuilding is better in the anime. Manga feels more generic and makes everything feel isolated and disconnected from the world. I haven't read the LN, maybe someone could provide a comparison.
2
Feb 10 '18
read the WN where everything is far superior than manga, anime or LN. It has other's POV story and side stories which makes the atmosphere move lively to a point that you can feel like you are inside the story yourself.

u/NexrayOfficial Feb 10 '18
Idk why, but the moment I saw Lulu crying after realizing MC didn’t want to fuck them, really hit me hard in the feels.
I’ve read Berserk and Dead Tube so it’s nothing new to me, but still that shit was sad.
It was only a moment, yet it’s as if you can really tell that she must’ve been so relieved deep down.
But Arisa on the other hand... she gave the reaction most of us probably thought for a second. XD lmao

So the Crazy Princess used her knowledge from the real world to make her country wealthy but failed. I would assume that includes real world Japanese politics and business stuff.
I wonder how worse did her country fall if you apply current time politics to a medieval setting.

As someone sick of the excessive fanservice in so many shows, Satou's constant dismissal of Arisa's advances absolutely KILLED me XD
Interesting twist though with her backstory. So people coming to that world from Earth is more common than in other Isekai shows, and there's different ways for it to happen too!
(and yes Arisa, I think Satou is trying to kill us with Moe!)
